Long wait for a table, even with a reservation, so we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for one. (-1 star). It took a while to get a waiter, and they were out of Peking duck after we ordered it, so we had to put in a new order. Can’t blame them. Good food, pricey, though. If you want less upscale Americanized Chinese food, go somewhere else.

Bernard’s sets the bar when it comes to New England Chinese food! You get what you pay for. They also achieve amazing flavors without MSG. A few of the things that I have had recently.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in the whole of Boston. They use quality and fresh ingredients. The food taste so good. The restaurant is nice and clean. The staff are friendly and eager to serve. We come here for birthday celebrations, family dinner, date nights, or quick meal. I love to start with sesame noodles, fried pancake, and hot and sour soup. The Peking duck is so good, the skin is so crispy and the meat is juicy. They even roll them up for you. My other favorite are Chilean sea bass with vegetables, sweet and sour chicken, Mahpo Tofu, lobster noodle, Crispy egg noodle with chicken. They also have a special noodle e-mee which need to be order in advance usually for special occasion. The price is also very reasonable.

Excellent service, good atmosphere, the food was very clean, not oily, felt like care went into it. It was a tiny bit bland – could have had some more flavor and they forgot to pack our rice to go. Only thing keeping them from five stars.

The place looks clean. Lunch specials cause about $17 plus tax and tips. Food is ok but not really recommended.

Bernards is simply NOT what used to be when they were at the Chestnut Hill Mall! Look at the veggie la mien! My understanding is a veggie La Mien is full of nutritious vegetables like carrots, broccoli, string beans, snow peas and mushrooms. To the folks at Bernard’s it it literally means 4 snow peas and a couple of mushrooms. What is more aggravating is the fact that you give the host a tip for a take out order. I will never return to this place again!

Beyond delicious food and excellent customer service. I ordered a soup that I typically eat in the UK. It wasn’t on the menu but the chef made it for me. Awesome restaurant

My favorite Chinese restaurant! This is not your typical American Chinese Restaurant, the quality of Bernard’s is unmatched by any other Chinese restaurant I have been to. All their food is prepared in the moment and made to perfection. They use only the highest quality ingredients and this shines through in their dished. If you want a delicious meal with high quality ingredients, traditional favorites and some new fusion, this is your place.

WOW, how rude the waiter was to Mr., and I, it was our first time driving up there to eat. I would never go there again. The food wasn’t even good, nor the service, I was so embarrassed how we were treated. This was not even worth the gas trip. My hubby didn’t even eat his food, I felt so bad, because I was the one who wanted to go. NO WASTE YOUR TIME IF YOUR NOT THE RIGHT COLOR. THAT HOW I FEEL. REALLY NO STARS FROM ME.

The food is better than adequate. Portions are good. Shrimp was overcooked but tasty. Fortunately I don’t have to rely on this establishment for my Chinese fix.
