The staff was very polite. Unfortunately the food did not meet the expectations. I had ribs and 2 beans. Both came out overly sweet. Ribs were more bone than meat. The meat part are quite burned. Cornbread was very dry. Waited for about 30 minutes or so when there were 4 orders ahead of me which had supposedly been there quite some time as they were enjoying some samples from the chef. Wanted to support the neighborhood shop due to recent break-in in the area. Well I did my part and probably won’t go back.

Loved it! My husband and I have been searching for authentic southern BBQ since moving to the island last year. We finally found Donnie’s when we saw their truck at a food festival in Waikiki. Not only is the first and only southern BBQ we’ve found, but it was delicious. We also went to their restaurant in Waipahu. The menu is extensive and includes the meats and sides that are only found in southern BBQ: corn bread, fried okra, collards, etc. I ordered the fried catfish, and my husband had the brisket. Both were outstanding. I would definitely recommend Donnie’s, and it’s well worth the ride to Waipahu, even if you’re coming from Honolulu!

My boyfriend and I were craving some really good BBQ. We decided to try this place out and it was amazing! The service was great. The food was delicious. It reminded me of home. I got the rib tip plate with mac & cheese and baked beans. I was not disappointed. Highly recommend!

Got the brisket sandwich plate. Brisket was good, flavorful and the bun was sturdy enough to keep all the brisket inside. Mac and cheese had no flavor, greens were good but cold and the cornbread taste like flavorless pound cake. 25 dollar plate was pretty steep for this plate.

Meat is delicious and juicy. The beans are simply incredible. You can’t go wrong with the BBQ here. A family owned restaurant and mobile truck with very friendly staff and delicious food. I couldn’t recommend them enough so go enjoy some good ol’ BBQ.

Finally some good southern BBQ on the island. The chicken was loaded with flavor and the Mac & Cheese was gooey and rich. It’s authentic southern, but don’t worry, the chicken still came on a big pile of rice, in the local style. Reminds me of home. Will be back.
