Established in 1999, Johnny B’s has become one of La Mesa’s favorite bar & grills. Nestled in downtown La Mesa, it calls home to what was once (in the 1930’s) the old La Mesa Post Office, giving Johnny B’s its iconic setting today. Owner John Bedlion opened the doors on January 1, 1999 with a commitment to serving a quality burger and the coldest brew on tap. John has continued to increase the original space by adding an outdoor covered patio, increased the indoor square footage, built a sidewalk patio bar along La Mesa Blvd., and most recently started welcoming patrons of all ages. The menu has also evolved to now serve a wide variety of American favorites, including specialty salads, sandwiches, appetizers & a weekend breakfast.
American basics & drinks dispensed in a laid-back setting with sports on TV, a patio & a fire pit. Based on 945 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.4 stars. Price $

Our server was great, friendly and attentive. We had an issue with a beer and they resolved it with no stress. Food came out hot, fresh and delicious. In the main area they have an open kitchen so you can see(and smell!) all the delicious food they are creating. The second eating room is larger but it was really loud in there with people laughing and having a good time. I highly suggest the Patty Melt and the Spicy Pepper jack Burger.

First time. Bit of a wait, but that’s because the place was hoppin on a Tuesday. Friendly server gal. Burger was tasty and juicy. Fries were bomb. Beer was cold. I was happy. All is good. I’ll be back! Was also nice to sit on the patio and chill and people watch

Stopped in here after we walked the La Mesa farmers market. Walked through the restaurant in order to get to the back patio. We order the steak sandwich, since it came with salad and fries. The other was the Jalapeno burger. Both were good. The Moscow mule and old fashioned were both great and had a wonderful booze kick.

I was in here a few days ago & it was so good! I liked that all the side parts of the burger were on the side so I could put on how much lettuce, onion & pickle I wanted. The fries were crunchy & my drinks were good too!

The burger and fries were pretty good. The beer was super flat even tho it was on tap. The service was poor, waitresses weren’t really attentive at all. Place wasn’t even that busy either. Also ordered jalapeno poppers and you can taste that they’re pre-made and frozen. They had 0 spice flavor.
