One of Maple Plain’s fine eating establishments, Blackwater serves as both a coffee shop and a diner. Our breakfast menu runs all day and we have a wide selection of lunch and dinner items. To our customers we offer breakfast foods, baked goods, sandwiches, wraps, kid’s meals, soups, salads, shakes, malts, smoothies, ice cream, beer, and wine. Coffee is available all day.
Our building offers ample seating for gatherings, meal times, and coffee dates. When winter comes, take one of our leather chairs by the fireplace and take a few minutes to warm up, perhaps with a hot drink! For the hard worker, we also provide free Wifi and a bottomless coffee deal — whatever you need to help you get through your workload.

Another treat designed specifically to wear down the self-control of the employees, Blackwater’s rice krispy bars are not for the faint of heart. Not only are they delicious, they’re also filling enough to last a person multiple meals. The smarter decision would be to share, but we understand how it might be hard to keep your hands off this dessert.

A strong contestant in the dessert arena, Blackwater’s chocolate chunk cookies encourage you to reminiscence about your childhood, specifically the part where you brawled with your siblings to swipe the last of the cookie dough from the bowl. Yeah, our cookies are that good.

This place is so cute and I wanted to love it. We’ve been up since 4 am traveling. We were so excited to find Blackwater. There were only guests at 2 other tables when we arrived. The breakfast menu was small, mostly sandwiches which we love. There were 3 of us that ordered a sandwich and cup of regular coffee each (no espresso or specialty drinks). After the tip our bill was just shy of $30. I’m in the food business so I understand food costs. Two of our sausage and egg sandwiches were cold when we bit into them. I brought them back to the server & told her about it. She was polite and apologetic and put them back in the oven. When we got them back to our table they still were not hot. The place also needs a good cleaning. The exterior of the garbage can was filthy and the floor was dirty. We cleaned off our table before we sat down. I totally understand things looking a little rough during rush times, but this was not the case today.

a kind girl took my order and was so kind while i was picking it up, but a girl in the back looked at me very rudely and didn’t say a thing. not sure if the rude looks were for me or her coworker, but i would expect that the manager makes sure ALL employees are kind to customers and COWORKERS or it looks bad for the business.

They should hire more professionals instead of high school kids. I ordered a simple meal, 2 croissants with bacon and cheddar cheese. I got a croissant with cheese ham and onions. I drove 17 minutes back to get my order corrected. You would think they would offer something for the inconvenience but they didn’t even apologize for the mistake. It’s a shame because this place used to be amazing, I remember going here as a kid myself. It’s a shame it’s gone downhill.

Ok when you run a business you don’t have (4) teenagers doing it. One sitting on the counter top with her feet in the counters. The coffee was horrible, the condiments hadn’t even been refilled, I had a bagel that was over cooked to almost burned. Several people walked in and turned around and left. I can’t recommend this place to anyone. Stay home make your own coffee and egg bagel. 19.97 for 2 bagels a black coffee and chia tea. Wished I had my money back… I’m not sure how they are in business unless locals support it… place needs cleaning in the inside…..

I visit your cafe quite often and there is a few things I have noticed. Sometimes when I come to blackwater there is no clean tables and the floor is dirty. I recently stopped there for lunch with several friends and did not appreciate how the staff did not have their hair tied back or out of the way. One of my friends found hair in their food and it looks very bad for the business.

What a cute little spot! I got an iced chai and a margarita flatbread, and they were delicious! The hours are limited right now, but their menu has lots of interesting things I’d love to try. The seating area is so darling and fall themed currently. Definitely will stop again to try other foods!
