A great place for breakfast since the 70s. A hidden gem, if you will, overlooking downtown Aurora. The baked apple cake won’t disappoint. So many options that come in portions you’ll have a hard time finishing.

I ordered food for pickup through Google yesterday around 330pm, which uses Doordarsh for order fulfillment. When my friend arrived to pick up my food at 4:21, the store was unlocked but empty, and there was no way for me to cancel the order on my end through Google. I came in the next morning to discuss the situation, and the restaurant had marked my food as picked up at 5:30pm. They would not refund the order or make my food, and when I presented the photos my friend had taken of the empty store, I was threatened as a trespasser. I will be contacting my bank for a chargeback, and definitely will not be coming back.

Had breakfast that consisted of half an order of biscuits and gravy, side order of bacon and a hot cappuccino. All were very good. But it was cold sitting by the window and absolutely freezing in the women’s washroom which they clearly knew about because when my mom complained, the lady smiled.

I was impressed by the vastness of the fine looking menus. Until I tried the food. The table also impressed me a little. Although there was no white sugar in sight, they did have French vanilla creamers. When they brought the bread to the table, it was super hot. One minute later, the whipped butter was melted but the bread was hard as a rock. Microwaving bread removes the moisture. Microwaving anything removes moisture. The soup was so thick, I could have used it to patch potholes. The pork tenderloin was not fresh. And the gravy congealed to the potatoes and the breaded cutlet. I got a whole cinnamon stick buried in my dish of rice pudding. And the decor was interesting with mismatched carpet remnants replacing damaged areas of the main carpeting area. And practically every photo on the walls placed crooked. I suggest (after looking at the whole place a little closer, and in light of the whole condition of the building, food, atmosphere, service) just tear the place down and start over with new management. I love food places like that, but the quality standards are so low… its sad. First step, at least just focus on what you can make well and easy, breakfast. Cut your menus up.

Don’t let the first look stop you from coming here, it’s a little dated on the outside, but the food is AMAZING! We are not from Aurora and we were just looking for something small to get breakfast and this place did not disappoint. Four of us and everything was good, fast service and good prices!

Ordered the chkn avocado eggs Benedict. The sauce is very chunky and oily. Doesn’t look appetizing. The eggs are meant to be poached but are over done. The chicken doesn’t have much flavor. I should’ve ordered crepes and waffles like my kids…
