What an Amazing place to eat and meet the proprietor Owner of Gates BBQ! We haven’t had this bbq in over thirty years because we moved. I must say that it still has its quality of flavor and quantity of size to meet our expectations!! We must return on next visit to Kansas City to try other items on their menu.

Gates is good. It’s my favorite bbq spot in the city. However, it is salty so drink plenty of water. The original sauce may be a bit spicy for those who do not like spicy foods, but I love it.

Was an amazing first time experience. The service by 2 ladies was amazing as well, very kind and helpful. I believe one worker was new, so ordering some of the stuff was a little difficult, and the charge was done incorrectly. But once everything got squared away we really enjoyed our meal. We got the mixed plate and it is totally worth it, definitely sharing size! Not picture but the double deuce is also a really good deal. Ribs were soft, meat came right off the bone also the sauce!!! I asked for the spicy and it was delicious!

We visited this location on 6/7/2023 as a party of 4 and were blown away by how excellent this restaurant is. We are from out of town, but as soon as we stepped into the restaurant an incredibly sweet and kind host named Lenora greeted us and struck up a quick conversation. After the conversation we headed towards the dine-in counter and were, yet again, greeted by an extremely friendly member of staff. Once we got our food, we headed towards the first dining room, which Lenora had recommended. The food was delicious and the sauces were flavorful. I enjoyed my beef on bun with fries thoroughly. The baked beans were also amazing and had a great, sweet, smoky flavor profile. Lenora checked up on us during the meal and added an extra positive impact to the whole experience. The whole process was overwhelming positive and highly recommended. If you’re visiting Kansas City, you should definitely stop by this place and grab something to eat.
