Can confidently say that this was my favorite dining experience in Philly this year if not ever. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and that translated into the food. Everything was prepared with such care and attention, and every dish tasted delicious. I especially loved that before each serving the chef(s) gave an overview of what makes it special and where the food came from (supporting local farms). It was a truly unique and special experience that I cannot wait to have again.

Without a doubt, the best dining experience I’ve ever had. Every aspect of this place is extraordinary; from the decor, the open-kitchen concept, to the service, to the hospitality of the chefs, and of course, the food.

This place was fun and inventive. We were seated in the window seats, and the chairs were pretty uncomfortable. I had to stand most of the time. The service was impeccable. The food ranged from really amazing (challah toast, corn ravioli, soft shell crab, dessert!) to interesting and tasty (skate wing and halibut) to just ok (tomatoes, eggplant parm, pork chop). Most items were in a relatively heavy sauce. I know, I know, it’s French, but it was also a summer menu. We support chefs in being progressive and experimenting and were glad we had the chance to try it. We’re excited to see what this talented chef does next, but if you go here (they said it was switching to a Thai concept soon?), request not to be seated in the window.

Would give 6 stars if it were possible, truly an outstanding dining experience.

If you haven’t been to Her Place Supper Club, start asking around and find someone who can get you added to the list. This is not a place you can walk up to and dine on a whim. The chef of Her Place, Amanda, has done a great job of keeping his hidden gem just secluded enough to warrant great interest by Philly Phoodies.

There’s a good reason that Chef Amanda Shulman has been nominated for a James Beard, bc the experience she and her incredible team are creating at Her Place is special, and frankly, inimitable. Partly because the menu changes every two weeks, partly because every beautiful plate and piece of flatware is mismatched, partly because of the special intimate dinner party feeling. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef’s counter this week for a front row view of an impeccable summer menu focused on some of my favorite seasonal foods.

Boy was it good. One of my favorite restaurant experiences ever. It’s meant to feel like a dinner party and it did just that. Hearing about the origin of ingredients was so cool and each new dish perfectly complemented the previous. Pre-looking at the menu almost repelled us away as it sounded a little odd but no, it was better than we could’ve expected. Reservations aren’t easy but well worth.

Last night my girlfriend surprised me with reservations to Her Place… I’ve been wanting to come here since it opened; with how the reservation system is set up, I could never make time to find a time for us to come.. We can both say that this experience was worth waiting two years.

One of the best restaurants and up-and-coming chefs (Amanda Shulman) in the Philadelphia restaurant scene. We thoroughly enjoyed everything down to the last bite! Mondays are hard to get a table to show up early to wait in line. Doors open at 5PM. We all had a fantastic time as you can see! 🙂

Successfully managed to snag a reservation at Her Place Supper Club on a Wednesday for their 830pm time slot. For quick reference, this restaurant is not BYOB and has wine, beer, and cocktails available.
