Cozy, quiet, and authentic. Appian Way is the closest thing to sitting in your grandmothers house while she cooks dinner for you.

Everybody loves The Appian Way’s gelato. I’m glad that I live nearby so I can have it whenever I’m craving for it! They also give fast service and great food as always.

The food was pretty good, the staff was friendly, but the time wasted waiting for food was epic. 1 1/2 hrs for 3 dinners. It’s just a tiny place, and it was busy, but still, the wait was a little much. Would I go there again? Probably not. There is a lot of competition for Italian restaurants in Schenectady that have more to offer and better service.

If you want the most authentic and best tasting, freshly made Italian food in the Capital District – this is the place. The service and atmosphere is just like eating a meal at home. Everything is cooked to order so plan to be there a while – which we don’t mind because after 40 yrs of dining there – they are family!

Plan to spend a few hours here. Everything is made in house (even the olive oil used in the restaurant is from their family’s olive grove in Italy. The three ladies who run the place fly to Italy every year to help with the harvest and refill their supply). Because of this level of quality, you will wait for your fantastic food. Order an appetizer, enjoy the wood burning fireplace and the house wine while you wait.

What a Place!!! In a hole-in-the-wall on Van Vranken St., but wonderful food in a place oozing with charm. The owners actually go back to Italy every summer to help with the olive harvesting. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Old school Italian. Food was great. They used basil , tomatoes, beet greens and lettuce straight from their garden. Cool experience.
