This Yama location is awesome! I had only ever been to the San Gabriel location before. I was in Culver City and this Yama sushi was recommended to me. I ordered freshly cut sashimi heading concluded salmon, tuna and scallop. I also grabbed a box of hamachi/salmon nigiri, California rolls and karaage (fried chicken). Everything was super tasty and fresh. The staff was friendly, nice and provided great service. I’m looking forward to coming back with my family! I also found Japanese Yuzu beer which is hard to come by. Looking forward to trying it!

Wow this place is amazing. The service, quality of the fish and variety are excellent; no wonder why they’re so popular. I wish we knew about this place sooner! We got the bento box (not pictured) which came with chicken karage – fried chicken (best I’ve ever had), 5 pieces of nigiri (salmon and yellowtail but we asked for all salmon), and a somen salad. We also got salmon belly sashimi and had them cut it for us. I would normally go to Mitsuwa for my sashimi and cut it up at home but Mitsuwa doesn’t carry Salmon belly. So I think this place is our new go to.

Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive chefs behind the counter will slice up your purchase of fresh sashimi. The premade sushi is delicious and comes with wasabi, and shoyu packs. (Soy sauce) and chopsticks. My only complaint is that there aren’t enough locations. They have one location in WLA and one in San Gabriel. We tried the portobello katsu, chicken katsu, hamachi, salmon sashimi and California roll. The portobello katsu comes with a dipping sauce and is really tasty. The raw fish was very fresh and the California roll delicious and prices are reasonable.

The fish is very fresh and good, but not as tender and melting in your mouth as in a very good sushi restaurant. However, the price is much lower than in a restaurant. Overall, the price-to-quality ratio deserves five stars. The choice of fish is limited – mainly salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. Tuna is inferior in quality to salmon and yellowtail.
