Pretty good food, although for the price the burritos were pretty small, and since we heard about this place from a Mexican student my wife teaches, we had high hopes for authenticity. Fries with a burrito? Not something I’ve seen in Mexico but okay. My wife’s trio of tacos were quite good though, she said.

Yes! I had the most delicious lunch today. The restaurant wasn’t too busy and we placed our order and took a seat. The space is small but cute, with lots of bright, natural light. We ordered horchatas, Birria tacos and a Pambazo. The tacos were outstanding. Each of the three generously filled with tender beef and lined with cheese that was crisp around the edges. They’re served with a side of guajillo beef broth for dipping. We inhaled them. The Pambazo was enormous, telera bread stuffed with potatoes and chorizo dipped in guajillo sauce. Additions of mayonnaise, queso fresco and crema sent it over the top. I highly recommended this spot and plan on returning to try the tamales which are served only on weekends. Support local. You will not regret a visit to this spot.

Extremely warm, welcoming friendly service from the owner, Paul! His kindness and helpfulness is enough to make us come back! We ordered 3 entrees and all were delicious and very gourmet! We also enjoyed their horchata! I highly recommend. There is no other taco place in Madison quite like Tacos el Capi.

What a great taco place to have on the east side! If you’re looking for some bomb authentic Mexican food this is the spot. We had el pastor tacos and birria tacos – we were very impressed with both. The staff is very friendly and it is a clean, good atmosphere. Our food came out very quickly as well. I am so excited to come back on the weekends for $10 tamale platters.

Awesome spot for some really great food. I tried the birria tacos. Extremely flavorful and smelled amazing. Small little place not great for large parties but great for a smaller group. I can’t get over the smell and freshness of this spot

My first time there. I had the Pambazo, a chorizo and potato sandwich. It was huge and very tasty. The chorizo was not spicy at all. The restaurant was medium sized and very clean. It is kind of hidden away, but well worth finding. I will be going back to try the more traditional Mexican dishes. The young lady behind the counter was very helpful. Only downer was the very loud music. Could be turned down a bit without hurting the ambiance.

The big quesabirria and mole enchiladas were chefs kiss. I’m certain the red and green salsas are homemade, I can just tell. The service was great the individual at the register was very friendly and helpful with ordering. Horchata on point. Good atmosphere, cute decor. All around ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So glad to have the sons of Marimar on the east side!! Well priced, perfect portions. Friendly staff in a great environment. They use the same spices as Mercado Marimar(like mom like sons) so needless to say the food is incredible. Do a few things and do them well. This is the living truth at El Capi!

GREAT tacos!!! So yummy!!!! 100 stars. I had the chicken with salsa verde. Will be back for the Tostadas de Tinga/pollo, which won a Taste of Madison award. They have mole as well. (I didn’t think to take a photo of my taco. I ate it too fast!)

Got the birria tacos to go. Only had to wait ~10 minutes for my order and enjoyed the clean and bright atmosphere of the restaurant! The tacos and broth were both absolute fire. Everything was delicious, no notes!
