This is a small place in a building that has great history / atmosphere along great food and service. If you are looking for an oasis around the Hy-Vee Arena area for great lunch options or great baked goods, please come check out the The Ox Cafe & Bakery. The caeser salad was great!

The people in the kitchen know what they’re doing! The food is like WHOA! My fave lunchtime spot because they never disappoint on the food. I didn’t give five stars overall because the customer service can be a hit or a miss – though, the most likely cause is they’re understaffed like many restaurants, which is understandable. I have noticed some improvement. Highly recommend the French Dip and their blueberry muffins (split down the middle and toasted with butter).

Had a salad there few days ago, lettuce was brown, tomatoes not fresh. Our waiter took order never brought drinks. Had to ask for table to be cleaned it was sticky. I used to go there when it first opened it was top notch, not now.

Felt very disjointed and dingey. It feels like it wants a swanky 40s vibes but there is no atmosphere other than the architecture. The prices are a little high for what they are serving and when I looked in the back it looked dirty and no one was wearing gloves. Their display for bakery was laughable. It was either over done , from frozen (looked from frozen) or both. It’s lucky it is near a office or i doubt it’d have any business.

Very limited choices on their menu. We went on a Friday morning and they only had one waitress making/serving drinks/food. Food came out more on the cold side. Overall the coffee is good, the baked goods that they did have tasted good and their food besides it being cold tasted good.

1 waitress/barista for a whole restraunt of 20+ people. Food was overpriced and came out late and cold. If you have the word Bakery in the name of your restraunt you should have more than 3 choices of baked goods. The bakery window was a sad empty view. Turns me off their steakhouse next door.

Great lunch spot! We had a turkey club with fries and a house salad. Both meals were delicious! Got a peanut butter cookie and coffee to go too… YUM!!

The food here is tasty, and the staff is extremely friendly! Reasonably priced mid-day fare you’ll want to try if you’re in the neighborhood.

There was 1 other person in the restaurant and it took them close to 50 minutes to make 2 sandwiches for my table. Horrible wait time for food. Will not be returning nor recommending to anyone.
