Went early in the morning for breakfast and the place was quiet and spacious. I celebrated a birthday with friends and the server was accommodating and patient with our table. The food was good and well portioned. They have a breakfast sale of buy one meal and get the second free. A nice place to dine with family or friends.

Great service, even with a bit of a language barrier. We taught each other some new words. The food was excellent! He even boxed our leftovers and hung the bag on a special rack so they didn’t sit on the floor or table.

The service and the breakfast here is excellent, the huevos rancheros are good. For $9 you get 3 eggs, refried beans and potatoes with chorizo.

The waiter was awesome but forgot to tell the cook not spicy. I don’t want spicy ingredients but the food was served was spicy. Also there’s no option for hot chocolate, they only serve cold chocolate drink. My advice is to buy a microwave so that if the customer will ask for hot chocolate just heat it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Very simple solution and you make the customer happy

1st visit to restaurant. Took my mom to lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive. The complimentary beans and chicken were good along with the four different sauces got the appetite going. I had the Enchiladas suizas and my mom chose the Panchos (see pics). Overall good service, good food and good price. Would recommend. Look forward to next visit.

We had a graduation celebration for our 2 daughters. Food was amazing and service was phenomenal! Jenny and Rogelio were very attentive. We had small decorations, and Jenny definitely took her time to make sure we could accommodate and set up a separate table for them. Thank you Casa Palenque for making this a memorable celebration! We will certainly be back!!

With my parents being in town and brother off from work we decided to have breakfast. The original plan was dine in at black bear diner but it was a whopping 45 min wait, so we decided to cruise on by to casa palenque since they were the only restaurant opened at 8am in the area. I’m glad we made the stop because Mexican cuisine is something I tend not to eat as much but this meal was the perfect fix. We also go a taco of carnitas to share between me and my parents which I forgot to include in the photo but it was tender and fatty. Great place for a family to dine in

I took my wife to lunch at Casa Palenque, located on the expressway and McColl in McAllen. There’s a tall sign out front so you can’t miss it. After we were seated and placed our drink order,( my usual tea, my wife always drinks coke) we were given a plate of refried beans with shredded, seasoned chicken, tortilla chips, and a plate with three types of salsas, and Pico de Gallo. The chips were a little overcooked for my wife’s taste but I tore them up. She ordered the tampiquena plate that comes with a cut of skirt steak, (unsliced fajitas to some), a chicken mole enchilada, a crispy beef taco, guacamole, rice and refried beans. Also, both plates came with tortillas so we opted for corn. My wife really liked her meal. I wanted to try something different so I ordered the Patitas en Salsa. ( Pigs feet in tomato sauce). They were cooked super tender, and the sauce had bell peppers and onions in it. Honestly, this sauce reminded me of one of my favorites I make at home. The plate came with a soup cup full of refried beans that was a bit too much, especially since we had a plate to start with. Rice would have worked really well with this sauce, too bad it was left out. Plus the plate did appear a bit empty and the rice would have helped fill the plate and added to the presentation. I liked how they presented the rice on my wife’s plate. My wife loved her plate and I really enjoyed mine. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake with ice cream. The service was on point, the only flaw I saw was the server never picked up the drink menu from the table, even after several visits to the table. It was not in the way so I didn’t mention it, but in the real world of top notch service it has to be accounted for. This is the first of all the Palenque restaurants that I have reviewed that didn’t have any real issues. I am going to have to go back again to see if it is indeed the real deal! Only because of the experience I had at the Palenque Grill on my second visit. I do recommend Casa Palenque because the food and the home made corn tortillas are really good. Finally, I really wanted to add that I liked the open dining room concept, and even more is my wife and I really loved the original old school Musico Mexicano that serenaded us as we dined.
