Great burger diner in downtown Royal Oak.

The new and improved Comet Burger is definitely worth checking out! It is clear that a lot of care was taken to making the inside look pleasant and inviting – even the bathrooms are beautiful! We went there yesterday and had a great time. The food and service were top notch, and the atmosphere was really fun. Everyone from the guys at the grills to our server to the owner were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend supporting this local gem!

Great place for a slider. Very fresh and old school diner. New owners, but familiar food and setting. Give them a try, I will definately be back

Great atmosphere! Love the new and improved look. Very clean and food was high quality. Exactly what downtown royal oak needs for a quick slider and milkshake. Can’t wait to go back.

Scaldingly hot burger that just didn’t wanna cool down. Had to disassemble and let it sit for a while before I could eat it. Waffle fries were straight out of the bag from the freezer. Meh. The corned beef egg roll was supposed to me a big deal. It wasn’t. Decor was fun. Servers were nice and honest. But the food experience was disappointing. Was recommended the place as our first choice, Hunter House, home of the worlds best burger, was closed. Man, it’s no comparison. At Hunter House you can tell everyone cares. At Comet, they are just phoning it in. Skip it, and drive the 10 minutes to Hunter House.

The employees were friendly and the service was quick, but I didn’t enjoy Comet Burger as much as other slider restaurants such as Hunters Hamburgers, Travis, Seeburgers, and Green Dot Stables. The burger patties were so thin and they didn’t have as much flavor as the aforementioned restaurants. Neither did the Coney. I was hungry so I cleared my plate, but I’ll likely stick with Hunters or the other restaurants I mentioned.

They aim to be the classic American downtown diner and I think they nailed it. I had a patty melt, fries, and chocolate shake and it all tasted exactly like you’d expect from the archetypical American diner.

Great place. Only 2 seats per table which kinda sucks but other than that it’s a great restaurant. Food is exceptional, waitress at the front is sweet, and music is great

So good! The sliders are the perfect size and not too small either. Great fries and chili. The food was fast too. Super affordable. Two adults $20 for lunch combined and we were stuffed. Friendly staff with prompt service. Clean and retro casual vibe. Guess we just found our new regular lunch spot.

The cheeseburger’s were great but I can’t justify spending $5 on a slider. If you’re in the area these will satisfy you for sure. But if you want more bang for your buck there are better alternatives in Detroit. What I paid for 3 cheeseburgers I could’ve gotten about 8+ at Telway. The milkshake was $9. I know this place is in Royal Oak but sheesh lol.
