Fake Google reviews worst Indian buffet ever ate this guy even keeps the candle under buffet trays off to save his money. Google should scrutinize their reviews seems to be from fake accounts or people. Not even.worth single star!!!!! Better go to naan restaurant on other side of street. Going to report to city if New Haven as they seem to be not even meeting the requirement they need to run the restaurant. Start of buffet time still no toilet paper messy restrooms. Wonder they wrote even Tandoor in their name may be just to fool people

I really do not understand the negative reviews. Best Indian buffet in the area. My only minor criticism is that they have the same items on the buffet every weekend but I like most of the items so it is not really a problem.

Ordered takeout, food was excellent! I ordered the cucumber tomato salad, vegetable samosas, lamb samosas, raita, kheer and a tikka masala lunch special. It came with the array of onion chutney, green chutney and tamarind sauces. I think my favorite was the vegetable samosa (like a chickpea/potato fried pocket (size of an orange and some)) and the kheer was very very good. Tikka masala lunch special had no spice (so I slapped on some of my own) and while I’d prefer a higher spice level and requested medium hot, the tikka masala sauce in and of itself was delicious making up for it, very creamy. All in all, I had an excellent lunch with left overs for tomorrow! Delivery was very prompt, around 25min.

If I had a chance I wouldn’t even give 1 star. Experience dining in here was so horrible. Owner is really rude. Food was just okay and please never order Biryani here because the owner thinks he knows a lot about biryanis and apparently his restaurant serves the best one since he’s from Punjab. I laughed so hard because I’m from Hyderabad and the Biryani here shouldn’t even be called as Biryani. He was rude to everyone that he was serving to. I wonder if he’s actually making any money with this horrible attitude.

Good Indian food at a reasonable price housed in an old 60s style diner. Daily lunch buffets and pretty expansive menu. Some of the best naans and roti’s around. They will adjust the level of spice to your taste, but just know that they tend to be on the spicier side. If you want just a little heat be warned that even the “medium” may be too much for your taste buds.

We travelled from Hartford to eat at this place for friday dinner. But our visit to this restaurant was a nightmare. The owner is really very rude and the customer service is horrible. We tried Gobi Manchurian and asked the spicy level to be Hot. To our utter surprise the manchurian was so hot that it burned our mouth. The owner should have explained the spice level before taking orders. Some of my friends ordered biryani but to their surprise it turned out to be a pulav.

They are not consistent with the taste of their food. We ordered Fish Biriyani with spicy level. They delivered fish curry and rice mixed together and was sweeter in taste. It was good as a fish curry rice, but no where near biriyani. In chicken biriyani, they put bell peppers, only Tandoor does this. Sometimes, the samosa is too good, sometime it tastes stale. The aloo paratha tastes good, but had the same taste as the samosa aloo fillings. The fish pakora has tilapia fish, never expected this as it is around 12 bucks and had only two tilapia fillets. We expected better fish. When you order, you never know what will be taste of the food. Their rice had mixture of different quality rice like mixture of basmati and the cheaper long grain.

Like the Place. We missed their buffet as we reached just after 3PM. So we order ala carte. Chicken, paneer, dal ,garlic naan and rice.Food was fresh and tasty. Service was nice. Owner himself attended us. We loved having food here. Must visist. Then we went to Yale University to explore the places nearby.

A fixture in the Chapel Street area for quite a number of years, Tandoor continues to provide quality Indian cuisine in a casual atmosphere with a friendly and professional wait staff. You’ll find all the dishes you’d expect (curry, tandoori, tikka etc., etc…) served in generous portions supplemented by a small but well chosen selection of beer and wine.
