This place had good food. We had the mencius shrimp and the beef and broccoli. The beef was a little weirdly tender but wasn’t bad. The shrimp and walnuts were great! We also had wonton soup and egg drop, they were also good. I didn’t really like the atmosphere of the place, there was loud basketball playing, a lot of the staff had their phones ringing at the same time as the company phone, and it was overwhelming and not welcoming. Other than that the service was good.

Per the ratings, I thought I would have liked this restaurant – waitress was horrible our soups came out before our drinks – she never came to check if we needed anything – I flagged her down for refills – rice was so not good at all – egg drop was alright but not my favorite – and the egg roll was not hot -.

Nice place, a little crowded even at an earlier lunchtime 11 amish, but still found a place to sit . Our server was phenomenal, quick with menus, drinks ,food, refills, you name it! The food was tasty: my wife git the Triple Delight and I got the General Tso chicken. She was extremely happy with her food. Now I don’t know what it is about every Chinese restaurant here in SA where the General Tso has been demoted in rank from General to lieutenant, but chicken nugget sized pieces seem to be the norm here, instead of the glorious, unidentifiably large and delicious pieces from Emperor Garden in Laredo. Mencius did seem to have larger pieces than most other places here, I’ll give them that! Sauce was a bit too sweet, but overall, good. I’d like to give it another shot sometime since my wife was so impressed w the flavor of her dish.

We got seated by 6:10pm and the early special ends at 6:39p. The waitress didn’t even offer it to us even though I told her that’s what I wanted. She wasn’t helpful and didn’t even fill out drinks. She would disappear and I had to ask the other staff for refills and anything else we wanted. I let the guy who sat us down how lousy the experience was with the waitress and he acted like he didn’t even care. Seemed like he was in a hurry to get rid of us because I complained about the waitress.

Great food! I’m from CT where Chinese food is amazing and my experience in Texas has not been the same. Thrilled to see they use the tradition American take out containers for rice. Food is better than any I have tried in San Antonio. A little pricy but I’ll continue to pay it and return here in the future. If they would out everything in the to go containers like the rice it would be even better!

Good food as usual but on this to go order one order was wrong (gave us chicken and vegetables instead of chicken and broccoli). Did not notice their error until I got home. Called about getting the wrong item and they claimed it was our error. So much for good customer relations. The chicken and broccoli entree was written on a piece of paper and read from the paper to the waiter. Oh well. Stil like the place but don’t appreciate the response to our complaint.
