My husband and I dined at this recently opened restaurant and had an excellent meal which rivaled a short list of other Italian restaurants in Marin which we enjoy. I had Cioppino, a dish I have been making for over 30 years, and was delighted that I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was every bit as heavenly as I had hoped, and included lobster (which I crave and usually don’t put in mine because my spouse is allergic), calamari and an assortment of frutti del mare. My husband had Pappardelle al Cinghiale, a wide handmade pasta with wild boar ragù; the meat was tender and the sauce delicious, rivaling the dish as we first discovered it in Montepulciano, Italy, a few years ago. Both of us had an Insalata di Cesare which had an excellent dressing, house-made croutons and, of course, anchovies, which the authentic recipe cannot omit; if you don’t like anchovies, then order their wedge salad, which is certainly equally tasty.

Food was classic Italian fair, worth the somewhat-off-the-path location. Atmosphere can get a bit loud without fabrics and other natural materials to soften the noise, but honestly I’m only being a bit nitpicky because everything else – service, food, etc – was excellent!

My husband and I went here for our Anniversary last week. At first the service seemed wonderful. We got our Caesar salads and one plate had a hair under the lettuce. They replaced it but was not comped. I think it should have been. Then we asked for a substitution on our steak plate. Was granted the substitution by the kitchen but the head waiter was rude to us when our plate came and the substitution was not there. He acted like we hadn’t asked for it without getting the benefit of the doubt. The rest of the food was good but because of service will not return.

Our son took us there for a special dinner and from the moment we entered with a warm welcome to the completion of dinner our server was attentive and knowledgeable about food choices . The presentation of food was beautiful and the meat perfectly cooked to our liking. Portions were generous enough that we could share. It’s a very special place and a great find!

A wonderful dinner. One of the reasons I chose this place is because of a mediocre review I read that said the pasta and the steak were underdone. One of the hallmarks great Italian food Is that nothing is cooked more than absolutely necessary. The ignorance of this reviewer made it clear to me that the chef was well trained and that the food would be excellent. We were not disappointed. I know my Italian food and I highly recommend this restaurant.

We found this wonderful Italian restaurant in Sausalito looking for a place to have dinner with family visiting from Europe. We all felt that Gallo Rosso indeed has a very nice European vibe. Service is very personal and attentive. The Atmosphere is excellent. And the food is very good. The charcuterie plate with pickled artichokes was phenomenal. Tiramisu and Cannoli also excellent. The steak was very good, just not perfect. Also the Demi-glacé needs a little bit of work, separated too much. All only minor comments. We all really loved Gallo Rosso. They only opened 2 months ago and will hopefully attract many people.

We got to town late and we’re happy to get meal in this newly opened restaurant. I had the Papardelle and my friends had the beef Wellington – all delicious. For apps, we had calamari and burrata and for dessert, we shared the tiramisu. All recommended, we’ll be back.
