Basanti found a home in June 2017 in beautiful San Juan Capistrano, but it was actually born in my mind since 2007. I always wanted to open a neighborhood restaurant that served delicious Indian cuisine with excellent customer service. Having been brought up in a household where my father rushed home from work every day to try new recipes for us, and spent weekends treating extended families to his delicacies, I yearned to create an establishment that served delicious cuisine whilst making guests feel welcome. Basanti, a decade in the making, is my tribute to my father for instilling in me the love of food and the joy it brings to share it with others. Please come share this joy with me at Basanti. Wow! Basanti was really good! It was my first time dining in there. The place was packed when we got there so we had to wait a bit but that was fine. It’s a small place. The smells of the different foods while we waited were amazing! The wait wasn’t long just a few minutes. We ordered an appetizer dish, a lamb dish, and tiki masala. It was all really really good food! I will definitely be going back there again!

I really liked the food it tasted amazing. I really admired the Basanti salad. The chicken tikka kabob with proper salad gave me the richness of soft moist chicken with freshness of the salad giving some acidic punch at the back. The chicken tikka masala was great too. The naan was nicely cooked in a traditional oven made of clay pot.

WOW! BASANTI is a must go in South Orange county. Simply delicious, hot, fresh, flavorful and with many options to choose from. You won’t regret coming with all your friends and family. Lunch menu has many options that come with a large flavorful salad, large bowl of rice, huge bowl of naan and your entree. I ordered the chicken Tikka masala off the lunch menu and my husband ordered the tandoori chicken from the normal menu. It was to die for Delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Amazing, fragrant, delicate, tender. Flakey Samosas, and Vegetable appetizer was a great start. Loved the sauces. Vegetable Biryani was so flavorful and Butter Chicken melted in our mouths. Lamb Korma was tender and delicious. Smokey roasted Eggplant! Best flakey Garlic Naan. Great service. 4 Happy Diners here. Why did we not know this existed for a year and a half?

We were visiting the area on vacation from the UK. We eat a lot of Indian food and have visited some of the best Indian restaurants in London and Birmingham (home of the best currys in the UK). This was excellent!! The service was very quick, the staff were excellent and the food was spot on. I would heartily recommend this establishment and will visit again when we’re back in town.
