Great experience with this place. I’d definitely come back if ever back in Little Tokyo.

Came in as we saw the Happy Hour Poster on front of the door. Was not disappointed and enjoyed the experience very much. Under 5$ drafts of Japenese Beer – what is not to love. The cocktails were very sugary, and alcohol (which I would assume is sake or sochu) was not that high in volume compared to mixer. Try the Sparkling Jelly Sake – was first-time trying – and it was very weird but very pleasant!

Got the curry katsu at medium spice. You can’t really taste the flavor of the curry, its just spice. Also has mushrooms in it, which is kind of weird because you don’t really see them in that dish. But other than that fast and friendly service.

It’s one of the late open (after 10pm) restaurants in little Tokyo. So we chose this one for the dinner after our show. A little busy in that hour but luckily we got the table very fast. The menu is big and a lot of choices. The waiter was very nice and friendly. We ordered the special don with spicy tuna and miso ramen. TBH the special don is a little boring (the tuna is literally plain raw fish not spicy and the whole bowl is a little too HEALTHY (aka no flavours ) the noodles were good enough.

Oh how I wish Portland had a place like this that was open late. This casual late night Izakaya was exactly what I needed at the end of my night. The sushi, onigiri, and natto were delicious and the tea hit the spot as well! I will probably be back before going back to Portland at the end of this week.

Great prices, prompt service, authentic atmosphere. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen, curry udon and hot soba noodles. Everyone loved their order and I would definitely come back!

Suehiro is definitely a long-standing local business in Little Tokyo. You just get that vibe. However, the vibe doesn’t really create an amazing eating experience. The space is a bit old and dated, and this is best shown through the torn leather seats in some of the booths. Regardless, this place gets a lot of customers around dinner time.

I found it interesting that this was one of the only restaurants around the block that was not brimming with people or had a lineup. I had a nice chazuke and curry rice, and the service was ok. In general, however, neither the food nor the service had that “wow” factor compared with what some of the other restaurants in the area seemed to give, which was maybe why there was a lack of lineup. I would have gone with the other choices first had I not been in a rush.

Two sisters – Junko and Yuriko – opened Suehiro Cafe in 1972, making it one of the oldest establishments in Little Tokyo. Their 2nd street location has some modern seating but still pays homage to that history.
