Go…right now!! Without question a hidden gem AND Best Sunday Brunch in Memphis. This is the place that your grandmother AND most likely your great grandmother would have eaten at. Just good soul food…great service….at a more than fair price. You will WANT 2nds AND 3rds. EXCELLENT!!

It took me back to my childhood. Made me think of my grandmothers feast on Sundays. The cornbread and peas and turkey neck bone. You can’t get that just anywhere. The sweet tea was so good. Fried chicken was excellent. Then there was peach cobbler. Oh my goodness. I think we may drive back to Memphis just to eat here again.

This is another soul food restaurant in the hood. The food is as good as can be expected for this location. I must warn you if you go there on Tuesday ask the server if the food is freshly-prepared the day of your visit or if it is left over from Sunday because there are closed on Monday. They are selling leftover food at the day’s fresh prices. That’s all I’ll say about that.

The food on buffet was delicious. However they ran out of food and we had to wait about 30 minutes before they brought some more out. They never brought any more ribs out. I think this was because they only had one cook. I would go back again because food was worth the wait.

If you’re looking for southern homestyle cooking without the added fat, stop by for the Sunday Buffet. The food is brought out in frequent intervals to avoid the possibility of dried out food. They bring it out of the kitchen in the same utensils that they’re cooked in, straight from the stove. Yummy for sure! And the staff is always friendly and helpful.

For my first time I recently ate at the Gay Hawk and I must say, the food and service was as good as I’ve always heard! The food was heaven FOR REAL!!! The atmosphere was warm and friendly too! This place has been around for a long time and I’ve heard many good stories about its history. You will not be disappointed!!! I can’t wait to go back!!!

I was very disappointed when I read so many good reviews the chicken was good the ribs was good the only sad part is is after being there for an hour they never refilled anything on the buffet table even though people were still coming in the corn bread was hard and dry and so was the dressing they had no gravy or cranberry sauce for the dressing really was very disappointed but I guess to each his own still looking for that great soul food really liked it because it was a buffet and it was only $12 which did include tea to drink just like I said highly disappointed drove all the way on this side of town but to my next adventure

The food is good, but not enough is prepared. They ran out of food while people were still arriving.
