This place was pretty good for the most part. I would have given a better but the Fried Chicken was a little dried out and the Sweet Tea was a little old. The chicken did have some good flavor though. The best was the BBQ Shredded pork over a bed of potatoes which also had amazing flavor. High scores and i would go back for just that. The Black-Eyed Peas were good over a well cooked white rice.

I wanted some soul food, so I gave them a try. I am from Vicksburg, MS. so I know a thing or two about soul food. I went several times to be fair. The food wasn’t properly seasoned. The chicken was hard and dry. The redbeans was canned beans, that’s a no, no. Most of the food was overcooked. The cabbage was soggy. I will say the portions are large. The cornbread is good. The catfish was seasoned and fried to perfection. However, it’s expensive and very small. Seems as if the cook is winging it. Serving canned redbeans was a deal breaker for me. I told the cashier. She apologize, but still charged me. I left about 70% of my food. I have to grade a 3 out of 10. That is no Mississippi cooking. If you are not use to good soul food you will never know. That ain’t Mississippi.

Wanted some soul food and came here. I ordered rice, collard greens, mac n’ cheese, 3 piece bake chicken. Corn bread came with it. I had some hot sauce but the food was good without it. Reminds me of being in the South. The weather was nice so I ate my food outside! Did not take long for my food to be ready. Food is great!

Yum! The fried chicken was super hot and fresh, so delicious! They were out of greens so I’ll have to try them next time but I got mac and cheese and red beans and rice. I also got a sweet tea which I personally liked better than other places around here. Also, I think it’s a really good price for a filling meal! (No eating in right now but it’s coming soon)

I love the concept as much as the food. Ready to go soul food. As fast as panda express or subway. Owners were very friendly like talking to your favorite auntie.

Always a pleasure interacting with the staff. Portions are large! Price is right, food is pretty good. Only have a few choices in San Diego. I would put them near the top.

Ordered the “chicken gumbo” Sunday evening and got home to see I received what looks like hog slop! First off, gumbo is a soup base, who puts that in a plate? Next, the ingredients were terribly cheap, there were cut hotdogs in it? Hot dogs?!? Sausage, yes, but hot dogs?! There was frozen vegetables dumped into this disgusting mess they call “chicken gumbo”. The mac & cheese had a strange smell and had zero seasonings in addition to being made with what seemed to be Kraft cheese product, not real cheddar. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. This is not what “soul food” is supposed to be! Absolutely disgusting!!!! Do us all a favor and close this business before you make someone sick!!
