This place seems very underrated. They weren’t really busy when my friend and I went at dinner time, but the experience was fantastic. TLDR: the food, service, and atmosphere are phenomenal.

We had the oxtail with rice and fried plantain along with a shepherd pie and a beef patty! Everything was tasty and delicious! Just perfect portions for two of us. Tried the durty punch, and it was good! Could use more rum staff were amazing and responsive!

I was so excited for this place to finally open, finally more culture coming to the Hickory area and what better than Jamaican This spot didn’t disappoint from the moment we walked in we felt like family, the atmosphere was warm, small but in a good way. We started sampling 3 different appetizers Durty Chips, Cocoa Bread, and plantains. The Durty Chips were not only good but a very wise decision to put on the menu, the plantains well let’s just say we placed an additional order to go and the Cacao bread was fantastic. We both tried the Oxtail plate and when I tell you they were falling off the bones and seasoned perfectly, the cabbage was different it was almost a steamed consistency but flavorful and filling. The peas and rice were a good compliment to the meal but I think next time I will choose plantains. Natalie the owner came to the table to check on us and to tell us the history behind the restaurant. She came a few times to continue checking on our meal and we learned that it was a fusion restaurant combining Southern cuisine with Jamaican cuisine. My next try will be the pork tacos made with their homemade jerk sauce as pork traditionally is never found in Jamaican cuisine. I’m so excited to have this family here in Hickory and if you meet the owners daughter not only is she delightful and truly a mixologist with her drinks but a wonderful server and very attentive to everyone’s needs. This is a must try in Hickory! Can’t wait to go back on Thursday!!

Our group had a good sampling of the food here. We started with the plantains and yucca fries. Both were very tasty. We also tried the beef patty. It was good, too. For entrées we had Taste of Jamaica, Oxtail, and the fried Grouper. Sides included rice and peas, cabbage, bread, and rasta pasta. Everything was delicious. My only slight suggestion would be a little more seasoning on the rice and peas. Service as fast and friendly. We will definitely return.

Food was excellent, service was great. The owners are very personable and welcoming. My favorite dish so far is definitely the jerk chicken nachos. Everything was AWESOME!! My family ate it ALL up. My niece and nephew tore up the fried grouper, my brother reeked havoc on the ox tails, and I smashed the veggies. My sister devoured the rasta pasta with jerk chicken. Loved the plantains. All around good food!! Whew…. you’ve been waiting for this!! Go grab you some.

I stopped in for a quick bite. The Fish & Chips app is really good. I liked the Peas & Rice side, but it would be better with more peas. Looking forward to next time! Did you know they serve cocktails, too? This is a Jamaican Sunrise ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Friendly staff and good food! The portions are large enough for leftovers! The jerk chicken is flavorful and not really that spicy. The curry chicken was also rather good! The pulled pork was tender and full of flavor. You must try the plantains and the Jamaican soda if you go!

I’ve been looking forward to eating here since they put the sign up. I’ve got to be honest, the service was not good. We waited 45 minutes to get our food. This doesn’t make sense because none of this food is cook to order. It’s all ready. Very long wait time. Ok, so the food. The rice and peas had the basil leaves in it and just wasn’t good. Ox tail was small pieces and small portion. The jerk chicken was good. Fried cabbage just ok. The prices are high. My wife and I ate lunch and it was $50! The building is dated so it had a septic smell in the dining room. The bathrooms smelled really bad. I’m not sure I’ll go back. I was very let down. But I’ve got to be honest so there you have it. I’ve ate a lot of Jamaican food and this is far from authentic. Far from it.
