Smokin J’s BBQ was founded in 2016 by a man with a smoker and a popup tent. After dragging that thing all over San Diego County for three years we opened our first restaurant in Poway. Now we are thrilled to bring our slow-smoked meats and house-made sides to the Gaslamp District. Serving up brisket, pulled pork, ribs, fried chicken, and all the sides you want. Wash it down with local craft sodas, beer, and wine.

Service was great we ordered and the food was there within minutes. The servers were very nice and would pass by often asking if we needed anything or picking up dishes they were awesome!! Great food and good drinks i had the pulled pork tv dinner. I tasted the ribs and I loved everything but their bean crack and the ribs were the stars for me. Definitely coming back to try the brisket!! Best Bread pudding and cornbread hands down! Dont forget to order the cider

DELICIOUS! Finally some authentic BBQ, try the Smokin J sandwich, pork belly on top of brisket with the ends that give it that authentic flavor. Staff is super friendly, service is great, prices are reasonable and Will the bartender is excellent. Design of the place is nice enough to take the significant other to, but not pretentious cause it’s BBQ. Flat screens with Westerns playing, and amazing drink specials.

Dreams really do come true! Smokin J’s finally has a downtown location! The vibe, staff, and food is top notch. Everything at Smokin J’s is soo good and if you haven’t tried the tacos or the chimi fries with brisket, you are seriously missing out. The addition/comeback of the cornbread has made my heart and stomach extremely happy! So psyched to have this be my new go-to spot downtown!!
