Pleasant local diner attached to a gas station. The decor is kinda dated but the restaurant is very clean and the folks working there are SO friendly! My husband had chicken fried steak with mashed ‘taters and white gravy. He said it was ‘okay’, but the gravy was not good. I had a salad topped with crispy chicken strips. It was basic with a sliced boiled egg on top. It was a fun place to grab a bite while traveling though town.

+$15 out the door for a breakfast burrito with no drink or anything. It was decent, but excruciating expensive. I ordered it without green chilli sauce on top because who like a sopping wet burrito (particularly one with eggs in it). Lots of people there, good environment but too expensive.

The freshest chicken fingers I have had in a long time! Juicy and so good! Great staff and the best meal you’ll have in Lamar.

While I get it was a down to earth and casual the service was below expectation.

Truck parking in the back. Convenient store on the side. Friendly servers. Good size portions of food. I recommend it here.

Simple unhealthy overpriced grub but the old guys sitting near you having loud conversations about Walmart and phlegm brings my rating up from a 2. The burgers are small but the fries are delicious. On the High Plains all salads are iceberg and mostly white, reflective of the clientele. When a vibrant energetic family from the city walks through the doors everyone turns to look at these suspiciously smiling faces. These urbanites don’t have that look of defeat and windswept skin. Who the heck do they think they are? Overall, a typical burger joint in a sparsely populated middle of nowhere plains town. Food is pretty good comparatively. Baked potato was good. They didn’t skimp on the bacon!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hickory House, and it was an absolute delight. The service provided by Misty, our waitress, was exceptional. She swiftly attended to our needs and ensured we had a comfortable dining experience.

Betty and the kitchen staff were amazing as we had a group of 16 arrive near closing. The service was expedient and the food was tasty. My chicken fried steak was delicious. Thank you to Hickory House for their hospitality.
