My family & I stopped by after a long day and decided to give it a try because I had been here years before to get something quick to eat. I remembered it was good so decided to try a bunch of stuff today with my husband and our son who is 8 . We ordered the BIG BOY I BELIEVE IT WAS CALLED it came with two different meats and four sides and corn bread it was perfect for the three of us the price was great. The corn bread was like a regular one which I’m never a fan of ANY CORN BREAD AT ALL BUTTTT THIS ONE WAS SO LIGHT AND FLUFFY IT WAS NOT DRY IT WAS MOIST AND BUTTERY , the other one was like an apple cinnamon one and it was so moist and the flavor felt like something I would need while cuddled up on the sofa on a rainy day comfort dessert type vibes it was amazing and the other one I don’t remember what kind it was but also very light and fluffy. The drinks came in a big container you can definitely share one with someone we got a sweet tea and a strawberry lemonade my husband loved the sweet tea and my son and I had shared the strawberry lemonade it wasn’t pure sugar like most lemonades it was flavored well it was so good and the other color was definitely pretty to look at the way the strawberry was mixed in with the yellow lemonade. Finally our food came remember I said WE ORDERED ONE MEAL FOR THREE PEOPLE AND THIS WAS IT WE HAD FRIED WINGS AND SMOTHERED WINGS , collard greens , mashed potatoes, white rice Mac and cheese and let me tell you the first bite was of the fried chicken it was so full of flavor and crispy , seasoned very well not salty at all it was perfection. I never had smothered wings cause I’m not a fan of gravy I WILL NOW ONLY EAT THEIR GRAVY IT WASN’T SALTY OR RUNNY OR TO DRY IT WAS FLAVORED JUST RIGHT PERFECT CONSISTENCY. THE CHICKEN UNDER THE GRAVY WASN’T SOGGY OR MUSHY IT WAS STILL SMOTHERED AND CRISPY THE FLAVOR WAS DEFINITELY ON POINT . Their MASHED POTATOES ON THE MONEY ASWELL AS THE RICE AND COLLARD GREENS , MY Husband ONLY eats my greens and he loved these greens he said they are a 10. Our son is the Mac and cheese critic and he said that it was very cheesy but smooth and flavorful he also said that it tastes very fresh not chewy or gummy like other places we have had he loved the Mac and so did my husband and I . Now on to our waitress I don’t remember her name but she welcomed us in with a beautiful smile and she had long boxbraids she is definitely a beautiful young woman. She was so friendly and welcoming. She was extremely attentive to all our questions as well as our food allergy concerns we had. This young woman made our experience so much more amazing because of the amazing personality she has she talked with us at the end and told us about her grandma Mama Mary and I just want to thank whoever raised this young lady to her parents and mama Mary thank you she is an amazing young woman who definitely has a golden heart and treasures this establishment whole heartedly. I ended up taking home a banana pudding cake for my husband and son and they said it was the best they have ever had the cake was moist and not to sweet it still had a nice crunch on the crumble part it was amazing I GIVE THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE 5 stars I have not had food like this sense my mom who passed and this just felt like home we definitely loved them beautiful experience we will definitely be back again they also can be found on UBER EATS WHICH IS ALSO GREAT

I’ve been eating at Mama Mary’s for years. The food has always been decent, the atmosphere has always been inviting however over the last few years, the customer service continues to decline. The wait is long, and the young ladies at the counters (not including the middle Eastern ones) lack customer service. The latter is my biggest complaint. These young ladies have horrible attitudes both on phone and in person. They’re always on their cellphones, or engaged in conversations with each other. The overall attitude of the employees (not including one young lady who I think is the the owner’s daughter) is that of customers having to visit this establishment. No one has to patronize your business. I return because I love supporting black Owned business, but we’ve got to do better!

My boyfriend found this soul quenching spot some years back. We have been frequent guests since then. The only thing I can say is the customer service every time makes you feel welcomed and the food is delicious. I have had an assortment of their pleasures and everyone of the plates have given my taste buds a memorable experience. Today I had the lamb special, I ate them before my boyfriend could ask for more they were crunchy, yet butter soft on the inside, seasoned just perfectly. Also give the candied yams and strawberry banana pudding a go your mouth will not be sad. I strongly recommend taking the drive to New Haven and checking out Mama Mary’s.

I was craving banana pudding. Saw mixed reviews but figured we’d give it a chance. Should have heed the warning. Why did I find a piece of a paper plate in the banana pudding. Over $5 down the drain. It doesn’t taste homemade or it could be because of the plate I found in my container.

I just left from the Mother’s Day brunch with my mom. We reserved an early spot, and there was only one other couple there the whole time we dined. We arrived first, sat first, and ordered our food first. However, the other couple received both of their meals first, and my mom and I didn’t start receiving ours for about 20-25 minutes. We didn’t get them at the same time, either. My mother got her main plate, and I was still waiting a while for mine to arrive. Our sides came out separately as well (after we were almost halfway done with the main). The staff took pictures of the other couple and engaged them in conversation, but my mom and I felt kind of neglected. The owner walked right past us, twice, and spoke at length with the couple. We were sitting right next to them, but she didn’t bother to say anything to us at all; she had her back to us the whole time. When you operate a restaurant, food and customer service go hand in hand. That’s why there’s a FOH and BOH. If my mother hand the said good bye to everyone in the restaurant, the owner wouldn’t have even turned to speak. Good food, poor service. I’m only giving the “service” 3-stars because our server, Shantay, was a delight.
