One of the best Cơm Tấm (broken rice) I’ve ever had in North America. Super smokey meet that pairs well with the rice, shredded pork skin, pickled veggies, and their homemade fish sauce. Don’t forget about that soup though, so warm and comforting!

One of our favorite place to get pho, com tam (rice plate), and other Vietnamese dishes. They have promotional price of only $11.95 for pho and com ga roti (chicken rice plate) which is posted on the window and not shown on the menu. They have many patio tables. Note that a 3.75% fee will be added to all credit card payments.

Cơm Tấm Thiên Hương, the “Cơm Tấm” means broken rice. With that in the restaurant’s name, we mostly ordered the rice dishes. My Viet friends were telling how broken rice used to be the left overs from milling the rice and is eaten by farmers. I could not notice any differences other than visually smaller grains. We had the combos, BBQ beef, pork and chicken $22 each with fried shrimp cake, shredded pork, egg cake and grilled shrimp. The food was good. Some of the BBQ pieces were too salty though. The fried shrimp cake was tasty. The other stuff was OK. Service was excellent.

We have had a lot of fun with Com Tam Thien Huong, facility 909 Story Rd #100 San Jose California. Comfortable seating. Good reception. The food is very tasty and the price is also reasonable. Of course, we had to try broken rice. Very delicious.

Prepare for a wait, do go early and expect a wait. Food wise is tasty and authentic but felt super thirsty after. Do consume water after to hydrate. Felt the bun (dry rice noodles with fish sauce) is would be a good choice vs the soup (pho) .

The pho here was really good — the meat was more flavorful than I’ve had at other places, broth was excellent, and the portions were quite large. I ordered #5 with thin noodles, but there is also an option for thick noodles.
