If you’ve ever enjoyed the 888 dining experience, you know it’s not like your average Bay Area Italian restaurant. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown San Carlos, 888 Ristorante Italiano brings authentic flavors of Italy to Laurel Street. 888 was created from a passion for Italian cuisine that’s deep-rooted in the Maddalena family. Owner Vince Maddalena and Chef Raul learned their craft through growing up in the restaurant industry. Specifically, Maddalena’s, owned by Vince’s dad for over 30 years in Palo Alto. When Vince’s dad closed shop, Vince knew he wanted to continue sharing his passion for food with the public. And so 888 was born!

I had a great time here. While the table on the sidewalk was a little weird having people walking by and looking at me eating, it was amusing as well and worth it given the weather was great. Had to look around at first to find any staff, but once I did he was amazing. Food was absolutely amazing! The bolognese was delicious, but the chocolate Carmel sea salt gelato was among the best desserts I have ever had. Will definitely eat here again.

Excellent Italian restaurant. They offer daily specials and have an outstanding regular menu. There is a good wine selection available. The staff is outstanding and exceptionally helpful. The staff goes out of their way for the customer. Recommend reservation due to limited seating.
