This was my second time having dinner here and both times it was a great experience. All of the appetizers and entrees I’ve tried were excellent: the steak, shrimp, kalamari, scallops, & sushi were all awesome…and all very reasonably priced. Great atmosphere; superb service, as well.

Sumo has great food. The shrimp tempura is huge and well worth the price. Besides 3 shrimp, you get onion, mushroom, broccoli and sweet potato.

I’ve had the pleasure of both being a waitress (in the past) and a returning customer for this location and the one in Steubenville. The owners, John and Elle, are very kind and understanding bosses. The food is amazing, a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I look forward to take out and dining in because of how nice Elle is and how she always makes me feel like a person and not just another customer. The sushi is amazing always and I never have issues with my food. The kitchen staff are on top of their orders. I’ve been a customer well before working, so I promise I am extremely unbiased. Both locations are amazing little small restaurants. You can’t go wrong with either one.

The most okayest Japanese Steak House in town. My wife and I both had the the steak and shrimp plates. The kids both had the shrimp. The rice and the noodles seemed bland when compared to other Japanese restaurants in the area. They also make you choose between soup or salad and rice or noodles. For the price I feel like you should get both, like many other hibachi restaurants give you.

We went once opening weekend and had to go back again this week! Wonderful ambiance, phenomenal food & menu, and excellent service!!! Easily the best restaurant in Salem… it is officially my favorite anywhere!!!!!!!
