I came back! And this time this food spot deserves a 5 starts. The food was fantastic, this is definitely a hidden gem amongst Gainesville. I started off with the fried dumplings and a soup. The Ruben sandwich was my favorite out of them all. Pad Thai was very very good, good mix of flavors. The execution from start to finish was fantastic. We got the chance to explore other items of the menu, and the high quality standard was always kept on point.

Classic American breakfast place with Vietnamese menu items! Pleasantly surprised with this place. It was busy the day after a game day but we were able to be seated quickly. I got the cafe sua da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee) and it was great. The American breakfast items were made quickly and perfectly cooked to my tastes. The bagels were decent, too, but they were just a side star to my main dish. I definitely plan on coming back and want to try the Vietnamese broth noodle soups. Limited parking so anticipate on street parking somewhere and walking.

I was really excited to try bagels and noodles but unfortunately I won’t be returning. My friends and I ordered when there were fairly few people inside but it became clear that the waiters forgot about our order as everyone around us was getting their food even though they arrived after us. We kept sporadically reminding our waiters every so often and they said it was coming (but it wasn’t). After over an hour, a different waiter advised us to order again. By then, they had sold out of most of the items we ordered which was really frustrating. Another while later, we got our food in extremely bad condition. My friend ordered a knish that was still frozen in the center, and my other friend’s order was wrong despite ordering twice. I didn’t get the type of bagel I asked for. We didn’t really end up eating anything after all that time waiting around. The manager thankfully said we didn’t have to pay for our meal. Other people I know have had good experiences here, so I’m assuming it was a bad day. Just be warned!

To be honest, the food is pretty mediocre. The summer rolls had too much vermicelli noodles in comparison to lettuce, mint, and shrimp. The pho broth was sort of one note and they didn’t even provide additional cilantro, basil, or jalapeno slices as part of the side. Bagels tasted like they came from the grocery store. I probably won’t come again. However, the staff was very nice. The interior was sort of run down, but it isn’t trying to be fancy. Prices were fair for what you got. Vietnamese grille is better for pho, bahn mi, and summer rolls in Gainesville.
