At our Arab, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.
Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes. Based on 232 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 3.8 stars. Price $

Service was good, but fish was dry and hard to chew. So bad I wished I had asked them to take it back and cook a “fresh” piece. Definitely not what I have been experiencing in the past. Probably not go back.

I had the Cajun catfish dinner. It was something different but was really good and you can’t go wrong with fried okra and slaw and their hushpuppies!

I was a bit disappointed in the food this time. The macaroni and cheese I got was cold and my wife’s breading on her shrimp was undercooked.

The food was just “whatever” — nothing exceptional that is UNTIL… I found a green paper (or sticker of some kind) mixed in my bowl of mac and cheese.

We like Captain D’s fish dinner. Usually very good. The last tome we thought the food was a little undercooked as the breading was still moist- not crisp in many spots. Also the filets were quite a bit smaller at this location.

The food is always good at this location. They make the best sweet tea in the South. The fish is always plump and never overcooked or undercooked. They have a great drive thru service, but I do the online ordering. Since online ordering, I have never had an item missed!!!

Rude employees! Twice I have ordered my order double fried because the last time the batter was doughy. They never bothered to drop the fish they were rude to my husband when he confronted them about it like they were inconvenienced in fixing the order . I know with Covid businesses are short handed but this is twice I have or my husband has been treated rudely and my order was not correct

The fish was very greasy as was the fried okra. The green beans didn’t have any seasoning on them. We was the only one in line and it took them over twenty minutes to get our order ready and by then there was a line around the building.
