For more than 20 years, D’Amico’s Italian Market Café in Rice Village has been known as Houston’s own Little Italy. While the always-bustling spot is well known as a full-service Italian restaurant, it still comes as a surprise to some to discover it’s also an Italian market.
As diners indulge in both traditional and innovative Southern Italian dishes like handmade sandwiches, fire-roasted pizzas, house-made pasta and an array of seafood, other customers are shopping the shelves for imported olive oils, Italian peppers, fresh pastas and more.

I have been going to this restaurant my whole life. The food is amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant feels like I am in the Italian countryside eating an authentic home cooked meal. I could eat here everyday because there are so many options. The service is great and I appreciate all that this restaurant does for the community.

Lunch specials are always a hit here. I always forget to take photos. Servers are friendly and approachable and the food is so good! Cozy vibes and homey atmosphere. The lasagna and steamed mussels are top! Also make sure to order a coffee because their espresso machine is great. And the gelato! Proper gelato!

Staff members are completely rude. As soon as we entered, we didn’t know whether to feed her selves or get seated, so we headed for a booth and a waiter Very rudely told us to turn around and wait but we apologized and waited to be seated, same waiter, waited us, and had the nastiest attitude throughout her entire service, but she was with us. She rudely threw my mothers drink across the plate and it just continued with a really nasty attitude. Then we politely asked if we could get a new waitress. We didn’t want to cause a scene but she was being really rude. We continue the rest of our service and it was made the food was not the best, but we finished we paid for our meal, and it was good, and we were done. Then one of their other employees approached us with a horrible attitude and said “ it was the owners daughter, and it was her first day, and we could’ve taken it easy on her” , she continued to try and justify her fellow coworkers attitude towards us but it was completely inappropriate, the manager did nothing, and it got completely out of hand, and proceeded to leave and were followed out by the general manager, mind you we weren’t trying to stay we were trying to leave, thinking she was going to apologize for her staff being completely inappropriate she proceeds to tell us we are no longer allowed to eat there. At this point everyone was fed up food was thrown on the ground still in its container, then the same original coworker, who was rude to us in the beginning, came out, picked up the food that was thrown out and threw it at us. Completely the worst service I have ever experienced.

Rudy, the manager was an absolute delight to talk with. Our serve Renee, was on top of our service 247 and was spectacular! The food and wine was delicious, you couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere or place to grab a romantic dinner.
