Throughout the 22 years that Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine has been serving Thai food in NE Portland, we have seen increased demand for vegan and gluten-free foods, so we decided to open Basil Vegan Kitchen, an extension of Sweet Basil that caters specifically to people who want vegan and gluten-free takeout and delivery options. This restaurant is basically for restaurants put into one. The menu is quite extensive. There are many choices. The environment was a bit cold though, but the service was good. My lad na was pretty good but some of the rice noodles that were fried did not have enough wok flavor.

Everything I ordered seemed to have frozen vegetable mix in it (peas, carrots, corn, green beans). This included the steamed dumplings and the Singapore noodles, neither of which was very flavorful. The rest of the dining experience was quite nice, but I was very disappointed by the food.

Absolutely incredible vegan Thai food with gluten free options. I ordered the garlic lover stir fry with fried tofu and the glass noodles with soy curls. Both a 12/10. Delivery was prompt and friendly and my food was still hot! Highly recommend trying them out.

Fantastic! Very impressive thai food. Big heat (we like!) and big flavor. We got the “hot” and it was no joke, which we appreciated bc a lot of places tone down the heat scale and hot ends up being not so much. We ordered the coconut vegetables, coconut spicy noodles and khao soi. All were delicious, fresh, generous portions, great varieity of veggies, ready on time. we will most definitely be back!

SO impressed with this place. They made delicious vegan, gluten free, and SOY FREE dishes for me. Veggies were nice and crisp, sauces flavorful. As for COVID precautions, everyone was wearing masks and there was appropriate physical distancing. I’ll certainly be back!
