Popular for a reason!! Delicious Asian fusion food in very walkable Riverside neighborhood. Awesome service and atmosphere with a wall of fun decor despite limited indoor/outdoor seating. Very common to order to-go. Looking forward to coming back

Ekiben is one of my favorite go-to places in Baltimore! I’ve tried their spicy neighborhood bird bun, tofu brah, Chile pork, and the tackle box (tried it today). This place hands down is a 5 star review for me, however, I would say the tackle box was a little disappointing as the skin was pretty hard to bite into. I ended up having to take the ‘crispy skin’ out and just eat the meat, although this could be because I got it for take out and it had been 20 minutes since I picked up. Would not order the tackle box again BUT I will still be a regular customer!

Very small restaurant so it may be best to take your orders to go as there’s a couple seats outside and maybe 5 seats inside. The restaurant has a crazy mix of decor, friendly staff, and great food. I found the food to be a bit pricey but the portions reflected the price. Definitely enjoyed the fried chicken meals and wouldn’t mind visiting again.

It has been a couple years since I last dined at Baltimore’s infamous steam bun empire, so I was excited to give their newest Sobo location a try. All I can say is, WOW. After waiting a brief time for my order, I was completely blown away when my order was brought out. The portion sizes were out of this world huge! My tray was overflowing with the tempura broccoli, not to mention the chicken on the Neighborhood Bird was the size of a small island, which seems appropriate for a Taiwanese style fried chicken. The flavors of both the steam bun sando and broccoli were unbelievably fresh and vibrant. The basil and mint combo pairs nicely with the lightly fried broccoli and minced raw onion. And we can’t forget about mentioning how pillowy soft the steam bun was, providing the perfect vessel for the succulent fried chicken. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with my entire experience and am already looking forward to dining at Ekiben again in the near future!

The moment you walk in, it’s a vibe. The music is hot and it’s already a good time with Drake playing in the background. There’s cute travel posters from Star Wars, Last Airbender, Power Rangers etc on the walls. The Lychee Iced Tea and YuzuAde was lit, and really good combined as an Arnold Palmer. The drinks were so well flavored and not too sweet either. There’s maybe 4 seats next to the windows and an outside picnic table but otherwise limited seating. There’s a single bathroom too. The food is amazing. We ordered the Neighborhood Bun, BEEEEEF! Bun, Tofu Bowl, Spicy Walnut Shrimp, and Rice and Beans. The Neighborhood was crispy and well seasoned. Would have liked it a little saucier. The BEEEF was a star!!! It would have performed better in a bowl form cause it was wet and made the bun soggy, but omg the brisket was sooo tender despite the soggy bun. The crispy tofu was perfectly sauced, so ridiculously crispy and the slightly fermented vegetables were amazing and so fresh! 5/5, the best food that I had when I was in Baltimore. Their IG is lit too with hilarious memes.

A lot of people told me this was the place to go for a solid Korean fried chicken sandwich, and it didn’t disappoint. The neighborhood bird was amazing, as was the tempura broccoli. My only real gripes about it are that when it’s busy – they keep forgetting who ordered what, leading to a bit of confusion. Also, I do understand it’s intended to be a carry-out only place, but would be cool if they added more outdoor seating. There’s 2 picnic tables, but they have room for more. Neither of my gripes are deal breakers and I will be back!

I am in a peaceful food coma after eating at Ekiben. I love all kinds of cuisine and have eaten food all over the world. I found the food at Ekiben to be truly and memorably amazing. I would say the restaurant falls in the “hole in the wall” category. You do not come here for a fine dining experience. But you will be truly blown away by the mouth-watering menu and amazing flavors. My daughter told me that they were particularly noted for the chicken dish “the neighborhood bird”, an honor that I soon discovered was richly deserved. So that’s of course what I ordered. There was an explosion of delicious flavors in my mouth when I took the first bite. It ranks as one of the most memorable dishes I have eaten in a long time. Other reviewers have noted how generous their portions are: TRUTH! My one dish could have easily fed three people. My daughter had the shrimp bowl and her finance had the catfish bowl. We all fell instantly in love with what we ordered. The lychee iced tea is not to be missed either. There is no place to eat inside. There’s only a long bench where people are waiting for their orders. They are very precise when they tell you how long it will take: our order took 14 min. That’s what we were told and that’s what they held to. Outside, there are only 2 tables so unless you may be one of lucky ones to snatch one of those tables (when it’s not to scorching hot to sit outside), you need to assume that your order is take out. I implore you to try their explosion of flavors! You will not be disappointed. I personally can’t wait to return.

Ancho Chile Pork!! Had both a bowl and on a bun. Delicious. Tofu Brah bowl is tasty too. The bowls are pretty large portions big enough for two meals. Nice!
