In a word: authentic. If you are looking for tastes from Mexico then this place fits the bill. This restaurant has only been open for 5 months and so far it is not crowded. The menu was in Spanish so it was not easy to find a dish that was recognizable if you didn’t speak the language. The cashier spoke English and was very helpful. The food we ordered was very good and tasted like it had been cooked for hours. Nice. I really didn’t care for the free chips as they tasted very salty and were not very fresh. The salsas were good and I asked for the hot one and it was nice and spicy ️. They added some Serrano peppers to the guacamole which made it extra spicy. So yummy!!! Leave them out if you don’t like it spicy! I definitely will return to this restaurant next time we visit Chowchilla.

New restaurant alert! Great tasting options! A great choice for great Mexican food with great flavor. You really can’t go wrong here. Everything has its own flavor. The food isn’t mushy or runny or overflowing with sauces without separation, which has been experienced at other places, but not here! Madera County and passersby should be here. Stop in! And what they’ve done with the building, amazing … Looks fantastic inside.

Definitely the best authentic mexican food in Chowchilla! My daughter raved about the chile verde special, we had tacos, asada fries and a carnitas torta plus flan for dessert. Everything was exceptional! The owners are very kind and accommodating; I honestly can’t say enough good things about this new restaurant, try them out, you won’t be sorry!

Las Aves has very good customer service. The prices are very fair but the food is even better. This is an authentic restaurant with an authentic family. We were so welcomed even when we showed up right before closing time. The French fries were amazing. Everything had great flavor. The inside was super clean they had some tvs up with the game on. Overall, this is a must try restaurant. We loved it.
