One of the best of places to go to for great Jamaican food. The owner is such a character and a great person to talk to for a long time. The staff are very nice and the food is amazing. Couldn’t ask for more. I got the jerk chicken and Jamaican patties. Since the food was so good, I ordered the ox tail and another thing if jerk chicken for my family to try.

We chose this place because of the high ratings but maybe we chose a wrong day/time to visit. The best part of the encounter was the host. Very bright and bubbly personality. However the food was not good. To be honest the food seemed to be not very fresh. It reminds me of food that is thrown together real quick cause you u hungry and u need not put too much attention to taste and presentation. It was not restaurant quality. It is nothing compared to Jamaican food to which I am accustomed to. The rice and peas appeared to be cooked separately and just mixed together poorly. The cabbage lacked flavor and was mushy. Spinach had high amount of citrus flavor. The curry was over powering in the chicken…meaning it may have been added very late in the cooking process and didn’t have time to blend. Another thing, I do not believe the patties are freshly made. I think they are store bought and displayed as home made. Reason being is that they tastes awfully similar to the same patties from the local Costco. This is an overall fail for me.

The owner, Mr. Lloyd was cooking a fresh pot of oxtail when I called. Because I didn’t have the time to wait, I didn’t go through with my order this time, but I will most certainly be back! When the craving for hits, you must feed it at Tropical Island Coffee & Cafe! Best flavor and experience! Great conversations to be had with Lloyd. Service with a big smile! Will stop through again soon!

Really nice place to eat! Service was awesome and food tasted great. I got the Jerk chicken and it had a wonderful taste. A little spicy. Empanada was flavorful. I got a raspberry slushy and it was ok. The people there were so sweet. They kept check on me. Would definitely go back!

Ox tails were good. Rice and beans and veggies were OK. Wait staff seemed jaded or not attentive.

Delicious food in an eclectic setting with great vibes. The owner is super friendly and helpful. We loved talking with him. Great variety of coffee and tea and the best coffee ever = Jamaican Blue Mountain. Great ice cream, snacks and Jamaican sodas.

The smoothies were really good. The variety of drinks in the cooler was impressive. The menu options were nice, and the tea and coffee opens were numerous. And most importantly, the staff was really super friendly. It’s a cozy place, but didn’t feel cramped. Wonderful little island escape right in the middle of Winchester. I’ll be happy to go back for more smoothies and snacks soon.

Lloyd is absolutely amazing, and makes sure he takes care of all his customers. Food is out of this world, if you’ve never had it and want a good taste of the islands, this is the place to go. Highly recommend.

Fantastic authentic Jamaican food. Lloyd absolutely knows what he is doing. Best jerk chicken I’ve had in my life, my buddy got the oxtail and he loved it. We even got extra food to bring home for later. The coffee is great, only place I know around here you can get authentic Jamaican blue mountain coffee. I plan to stop by every time I make it this far from DC
