As much as I want to like this place, we just can’t seem to convince ourselves to make this our Fountain Hills home for Mexican flavors. The location is great, as are the views of Fountain Park. The salsa bar is a real highlight also. Overall, the food is okay to okay +, with some menu items not found everywhere (read bacon wrapped and filled spicy peppers).

We enjoy the full service offered in the bar area. Great happy hour specials on food and drinks. The bean dip and chips are on the house with each order and they are very yummy. The various items that we have tried over the course of multiple visits were all very good. The staff is very friendly and up beat. When the weather is nice they also have patio seating directly across from the fountain with great views.

Delicious food! My favorite is the Percheron burrito. The salsa bar is great, it has a lot of variety. The staff is always eager to please. I didn’t think the house margarita was great, but I really like everything else about La Botana.

Absolutely out of this world!! Steak and shrimp burrito my favorite! Can’t beat the view! Perfect year around! Maybe we’ll get our name on the table near the outdoor fireplace! This is very fresh Mexican cuisine! Not your typical runny beans and old rice! It’s very fresh and cooked to order! If your confused with ordering than sit in the bar area for full service! Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of entrees served! Two for one Margaritas will make you forget about your work week!

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is charming. They have some great happy hour specials, and in the summer those specials are extended until closing time. The plate of ten tacos is more than enough for two people, and other portions are similarly generous. The salsa bar has something for everyone, with flavors ranging from mild to muy caliente. I highly recommend it.

Checked the website to verify hours. Called the restaurant and got a message that they could not come to the phone. Drove over to find an empty parking lot and a note taped to the door saying they were closed for “re-staffing.” I guess you just never know if they are open unless you go there and look for yourself. If it is open when you go the food is delicious and the grande margaritas are awesome. They have some sort of staffing problem recently. It would be nice if the website or phone message warned you of this before you made plans.

Great atmosphere and location, friendly staff and good food. You just have to adjust to their concept – like ordering at the counter if you want to dine on the patio- which overlooks the lake and fountain. They graciously let us order at our table, but that should be standard.
