It’s a cute restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring out your food. The menu has good options and is reasonably priced. The lady at the counter was nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, the food is hit or miss. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and enjoyed them. We also enjoyed the hush puppies, sweet potato fries, and okra. We did not enjoy the fish. It had no flavor. The grits were terrible, and the macaroni and cheese was really bad. We probably will not return.

The service here is always very slow, usually even if you are the only one in the drive-through you have to wait at least 10 minutes for your simple order. Also, they are out of cocktail sauce and other condiments all the time. Yesterday we went through the drive-through, sat at the ordering sign for several minutes with no response, then went to the window and no one ever came to the window, finally we were about to pull away and saw the employee sitting outside the building just hanging out. These instances are common here. While the fish was good and tasted freshly cooked, the sides were not. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was out of a box. Very bland.

Stopped in 15 minutes before closing time on a whim after trick-or-treating downtown. Staff was friendly and competent, assuring us they didn’t mind serving us or letting us dine in so late in the day, food was delicious. Burger, chicken and waffles, shrimp tacos, fish basket, fried okra were all very good. Restaurant was clean and well organized. Go try them out!

Was looking for a place to eat on a Monday night. The Italian place was closed. I liked the name of this restaurant in my search so we gave it a try. Wow. It was really tasty! We had a fish basket that comes with 2 hush puppies and 2 side dishes. We had the green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. You could get the fish grilled or fried. I liked the that their was an option.

I co-chair the PTO Hospitality branch at Beechwood Middle School in Lexington. We chose the Hankerin to cater our End-of-Year Staff Appreciation luncheon and the Principal’s retirement. The Hankerin was the best choice of establishment we could have made! They provided us the PERFECT “Down Home Southern Picnic” ever produced, reasonably priced and delivered on time! The spread was amazing and everything tasted fabulous — shrimp&grits, three kinds of chicken, hush puppies, potatoes, green beans, green salad, etc…Plus, thanks for bringing the burners to keep the hot stuff hot!

The food was okay but it has to be the grossest place I’ve been to in a long time. The door handles, salt shakers, windows were covered in grime. The bathroom sink was covered in hair. Had to ask for a new cup because of hair on it. Cigarette butts were all over the patio (we ended up going outside because it was so uncomfortable). The only reason we stayed is because we had already ordered and my elderly father has a hard time getting in and out of the car as it is. Some of the food was good, some of it was bad. It took a very long time to get it even though we were the only ones in there. I don’t know why it was that way considering the other reviews but it was really really dirty.

Well… tried to take my daughter out to eat here today & I couldn’t get my order taken! The girl was on the phone with someone discussing someone who left without paying! Hello… you have a paying customer that’s waiting you don’t stop half way into the order! It was so long a time, we left! You’re not going to make it like that!!

Me and my husband has fry fish, mashed potatoes, bake beans and hush puppies. The fish wasn’t done, the mashed potatoes was like water and the bake beans tasted like they can right out the can. This is the worst restaurant I even been to. We will not be going back. I read the reviews and one person said that it was a hit or miss. Well we miss. Wasted money.

It took 30 minutes to get half our food and another 15 to get the other half. The sweet tea was sour and most of the drinks were out. The Mac n cheese was not cheesy and the noodles were mushed together like they were non existing. The customer service was awful. the people working were loud and running around like kindergarten kids during recess and ended up breaking glass which flew across the floor at us. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting and had period blood in the toilet. I will never go back to this place in my life.

Nice local business located off of Hwy 1 in Batesburg-Leesville SC. The food was good and delicious. I had the Fried shrimp platter and my wife had the burger poor boy. The young men running the restaurant were very friendly and attentive. Please go check out and support your local businesses.
