As soon as an Onibaba Instagram reel popped up on my phone, I knew I wanted to go there; so we went there for lunch the very next day. On our table:

Onibaba’s selection and quality is outstanding and were quite possibly the best onigiri I’ve ever tried! The rice was delicious, the toppings were fresh, and the nori was the perfect consistency to still provide a nice crunch while also being just soft enough. I ordered the sake (salmon) and ume (Japanese plum), and my wife ordered the Ebi Mayo (tempura shrimp and mayo) and the yaki onigiri with sweet miso paste (all pictured) — and everything was just absolutely delicious!

Maybe good at other foods they serve, but not the curry dishes. Curry (taste and thickness) and rice / udon are fine, but the way they cooked and the quality of poultry, have room to improve. Udon definitely not worth.

Nice spot to grab small Japanese bites. Went on a Friday afternoon and took about 40 minutes to be seated. Small place, feel bad because you can tell they are understaffed. The udon came out fast, like 10 minutes but the oninigri took 30+ minutes. It was okay, I’d come back to try something else.

Overhyped and not worth the wait. I’d heard great things about this place on social media and visited on a Thursday evening. We waited for over 1 hr to be seated (which is fine), but the food itself was overcooked.

One of the few places in Seattle worth going to, both from a price and quality standpoint. Small, classic Japanese bites in a cozy unassuming location. First come first serve, no reservations.

What a hidden treasure in the international district! I got the luxury to dine in and sit at the front right next to the chef. Head Chef & owner Sho served us katsu & fried rice, onigiri and several rolls. This truly was an amazing experience, after dining I got the chance to speak to Sho and learn more about his practice & history of the restaurant. It’s been family owned since inception and had many hometown legends such as Ichiro frequent.

As soon as I heard about Onibaba I had to check this place out, there is not a lot of places in Seattle to get Onigiri so I was excited to learn that is place existed, I have to recommend all of the Yakionigiri it is such an unique way to enjoy the dish, if you have a free moment to drop in, or need a nice sit down please you have to check out Onibaba

I thought the sushi were ok, but the hot food (kinoko tofu and soft shell karaage) were good. However, this was all before the server spilled the tofu dish on us, and all we got was a verbal apology and a clumsy clean-up. I left dinner feeling annoyed and still had to clean my clothes and shoes after getting home Not a good experience…
