Food was great! Service was good and friendly. I ordered steak. The steak was very soft and juicy. I was passing through and I wasn’t sure about stopping by but I’m glad I did. If I’m close by I will definitely stop by again.

Love this diner! I’m traveling and decided to stop in Avoca for the night. I went to Grandma’s for a carry out mushroom swiss burger and I am glad I did. The burger was made of fresh beef that was hand pressed. It was loaded full of mushrooms, swiss cheese and tasted delicious. The diner is owned and run by a nice friendly couple. The wife is the only cook and has been cooking here for over 20 years with a great local customer following. They have a white board full of specials or you can order off the main menu. It’s quick, priced right and delicious. A real local gem. I highly recommend it!

Tiny place, I think I counted 8 tables. Delicious food! Grandma knows what she’s doing. I had maybe the best patty melt ever. My husband’s burger was almost too big for him. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked great.

Real simple and real good. Friendly staff and customers. Food comes out quick and done just right (not too burnt, not to raw on the burgers). Small, but honey and comfortable. I really enjoyed it after a long day on the road!!

It was the best Phiilly Cheese Steak sandwich I’ve ever had. Was complete with sautéed yellow peppers, onions and mushrooms and came with a pile of fries. Yummy, and was their special for the day just under $9.00.

If you are looking to go back in time and eat real diner food,this is your stop. The cheeseburger was outrageously good. The fried appetizers were delicious and the place even had pie for dessert. It is cash only,but it’s worth it.

My husband and I were traveling through Iowa and found Grandma’s Diner at lunch time. Delicious! Best diner food I have had in quite awhile. The owners were so friendly. If I ever pass this way again, I will be sure to visit.
