After trying to find a decent Mexican style restaurant on this side of town we finally came across this place on our lists. After the flavor disaster that was O’Kellys, this place was a breath of fresh air. Table side was a decent bowl of chips and two kinds of salsa, hot and mild. Drinks were extremely tasty and well garnished. I got a pollo plate and the wife got the Mayan enchilada.

My wife and I only eat out once a month. When we do, there’s no question where we’re going. Food and cocktails are the best in town and the family that runs this restaurant are warm, inviting, funny, and make you feel like you’re part of their family!

At 1st we were seated at a rather small table and had 2 Small children. This resulted in a spelled drink. The staff was very good about coming to clean it up and moved us to a different table while they did the clean up and they gave us a much larger. Table which was very helpful I always ordered something different when I go there just. To try new things have not had a bad meal there yet this last time I had the sancho. Which was really really good?

Service was horrible. We ordered an appetizer and it never came. We ordered fajitas for two and received order for one. We order xango with ice cream for dessert and received fried ice cream and it was disgusting. It was doughy and tasted old. Food, service and overall experience was so disappointing. This restaurant has great reviews and I don’t understand why.

Waitress refused to bring chips and salsa to the table until EVERYONE expected to arrive had shown up. Wasn’t very attentive to our needs and never brought to-go containers when asked.

We were seated right away. As an appetizer, we had my favorite, queso verde. The rich flavor and tender chunks of pork are amazing. The fried flour tacos and tamales are consistent and wonderful. Service was good and prices comparable.

Felipe’s Mexican Restaurant is a great place to enjoy Mexican food with an extensive menu and a full array of drinks with Margaritas as a house specialty. Generous portions- I give them5 stars!

Enjoyable experience. Great food. Excellent El Guapo Margarita. Surprisingly more expensive than we expected — more so than the other Felilpe’s restaurants.

Disclaimer – 20 years of living in TX and grew up in a house that made our own tortillas and beans. Ok that said, pretty good stuff. We had the regular queso, the texture is good but could use some zip. My teens got a burrito and chimi, one inhaled it and was miraculously full! The other could only eat half! I tried the sopes with chicken. Interesting and good but a little bland, a patty of mass harina (think moist dense corn tortilla it’s good) layered with beans, choice of meat, lettuce and queso fresco (crumbled light tangy cheese) I added some guacamole and salsa. We finished with a fried cheesecake -proclaimed too sweet by a teen, fried ice cream (coated in cinnamon toast crunch) proclaimed really good by both teens and mini sopapillas-some of the best I’ve had in Wichita! The family already knows what they want next time.

I’ve been dining at Felipe’s for more than 30 years. Food is always excellent, service is fast and friendly and atmosphere is always festive. Keep up the good work!
