Very nice people. Service was great. The music was awesome. And the food if I’m gonna eat Italian food it will always be here. I love their chicken Alfredo better than others i give Taste of Italy 10 stars across the board if they would go past 5.. Plenty of chicken and plenty of sauce to dip your rolls in.. You must try it out and on some days they have a live piano player.

After a few days of road trip and tired of meat and fried stuff, we happily ended in this unexpected place next to a temple. Our goal was to have a light meal before going back to the hotel but ended up with a delicious selection of food that brought our spirit back. There is a lot to say about the energy and the vibe of the people that run this place: you can feel how much passion is shared.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This is by far, the best food I’ve ever had hands down. There’s just no comparison. We have never had a bad dish from this place and the “Taste of Italy” is by far my favorite. I have tried several appetizers and the calamari is just spot on. The bread is brought out fresh and hot and it is just wonderful. The service is always wonderful and people extremely polite. Sometimes you may get to experience the live piano playing and it just adds to the atmosphere . I try to spread the word to anyone who will listen that this is the #1 place to eat in the 4 state area. I don’t think I could ever eat at another Italian restaurant again as this one made me a customer for life.

First time to dine here and the tortellini in pink vodka sauce I ordered was amazing! One of the best pasta dishes I’ve had, and I’ve dined at many Italian restaurants. Flavor was excellent. The place feels more like an event center room but had a piano player who really made the dining experience nice. Our waitress was great! They did miss our reservations, but, luckily, they had enough room and time to throw some tables together. We were all impressed w/ our selected dishes.

The atmostphete of the restaurant was authentic and lively. Our server, Katie did an excellent job, was very prompt and personable. We highly recommend the ravioli appetizer, it was delicious. We were disappointed with our main course entree, specifically the chicken parmigiana. The chicken parmigiana was honestly very poor quality. The chicken patty was artificial tasting, and consistent with a frozen Tyson chicken patty I’ve had the misfortune of having before. 100% filler chicken or compressed beans. The chicken Alfredo tasted like grease and nothing like Alfredo. Maybe it was a rough night, but we are sad to say we are still looking for a good Italian restaurant in the Joplin area.

Boy, this is a tough review to write, because overall, the ratings for this restaurant are higher than average and the locals seem to love this place (two people recommended we visit). We just really disliked most aspects of our visit. Perhaps my husband and I have a different experience with Italian food (east coast, Baltimore’s Little Italy, especially), but this was a great disappointment. The tomato soup was specifically mentioned as a crowd pleaser and we simply didn’t care for it – it seemed to be very heavy in dried herbs. It was just okay for us. The appetizer mozzarella sticks were okay, but nothing special. My chicken dish was very disappointing – the chicken was overcooked and the sauce seemed to have the same over-abundance of dried herbs, while also being a bit thin/watery. My husband also didn’t care for his veal parmesan dish. The meat had no crispy crust on it and he too, didn’t care for the sauce. We got lasagna to-go and it seemed to be lacking meat and was a very thin stack, unlike what we would expect. All of the tomato-based sauces and soup we tried lacked the color we would expect, and the resulting taste lacked a brightness as well. While I typically enjoy a BYOB restaurant, we didn’t KNOW it was BYOB, and therefore didn’t come prepared with our own bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner (I didn’t see any reference to BYOB on the FB page or any posted menu). Finally, the decor and ambiance of the restaurant felt like a poorly decorated convention hall space or a fancy fire hall, at best. We understand that the restaurant may be moving to a new location in the near future, so we hope this is a short-term limitation. Staff were quite pleasant, but lacked knowledge of the two dishes we inquired about (“I don’t eat blah blah”) and lacked training that would be expected at this price point. We went into this meal really expecting a lot, based on what we read and heard, but left very disappointed.

Taste of Italy is very good. Almost five stars – but I rarely give five star reviews because to get five stars you must be fantastic – so if I could give four and a half stars I would. A chef friend of mine recommended Taste of Italy and said to order one of the specials – so I ordered the Lamb Shank special and it was fall apart tender and very very good. The house salad dressing is like nothing I’ve ever had before – it’s a Italian vinaigrette but has some marinara flavor to it very good as well. The service was prompt and got our table of 12’s food out without any errors. Well done!

The atmosphere is interesting. But nonetheless, the food is great. I can tell that it is homemade. Great place to stop by when visiting the precious moments chapel.
