Nice menu variety with good quality food. This small local shop is easy to access and provides a nice respite from the hectic Charlottesville work day. The Philly Cheese steak was freshly prepared to order with generous portions and well grilled, succulent steak. The sautéed vegetables were also plentiful and really satisfying. The onion rings appeared mass made, but they were cooked well and acceptable.

What a hidden gem!! They look like they do great business. The staff is very familiar with their customers too, like old time ma and pop shops. It was great to witness! The food was good and fresh. While I was enjoying my sub; a very disrespectful lady came in, barged to the front of the line with a tin plate of wings and started complaining that they forgot to put in the hot sauce. “How am I supposed to eat wings without hot sauce? That s**t’s too dry!” The employee explained the hot sauce is separate in the bag and proceeded to grab more for her. The lady told her “I wanted it on the wings, I paid for delivery and expected it to be the way I want” I couldn’t help but laugh. You mean to tell me that you paid for delivery, then DROVE TO THE BUSINESS just to complain! And yall don’t have hot sauce in the house?! She looked a fool and the entire restaurant knew it. Free entertainment lol!

I’ve loved this place for years, but since moving I hadn’t had a chance to visit in years. I just recently visited in the past week and found there are new owners and employees, and they were FANTASTIC! The inside has been redone and the staff was super friendly! Clean restaurant and awesome food!

My co-worker and I came on our lunch break as we have both been craving a Tubby’s burger and unfortunately it was disappointing. Firstly, we were given the wrong burger (I had a 6oz and she had an 8oz) I was given the bigger one and her the smaller, secondly when we bit into them they were DRY…. and THIRD the fries were soggy! Very disappointed! Not sure if it’s the new ownership, but I think we are going to wait a while before we come back for another lunch break, unfortunately. (2021)

Tubby’s used to be the spot of you wanted a super tasty sub that was packed full and, it also used to be a pretty good price. I just ordered two large subs for lunch and both were maybe 7 inches long with both rolls having burnt/hard ends. And the worst part is they were almost $25. For that price I could have a wegmans sub that is 3 times the size. I will not be returning.

We were traveling down to North Carolina and decided to stop in Charlottesville for lunch. We are exceptionally glad we did. The food was truly outstanding. We ordered the Italian Sub and Steak and Cheese. Both were excellent. It’s clear the people at Tubby’s care. They use high quality ingredients and you can taste the difference. Lastly, the people who work there are exceptionally inviting and friendly. It’s about 3 miles off the main roads but the detour is certainly worth it!
