Four of us had lunch. Parking is easy. We were seated immediately. Menus selection came across as more limited than I was expecting. Service was ok. Portions are modest. They are trying to be fresh and hip but not yet there. Live music during our visit was poor and too loud. A better menu and improving food quality would make this better.

Very good food and excellent service! My friend and I both ordered the jerk shrimp tacos, and we shared the chips and salsa. I really enjoyed the magazine slaw on the tacos, but my only wish was that the jerk seasoning on the shrimp was more aggressive. It was definitely underseasoned; barely a whisper of jerk seasoning. Other than that everything was great! We especially enjoyed the adult beverages (very creative mixology) and the yummy key lime pie. I am a local, so I will definitely be back again!

Excellent food and drink, with great service. We came on a monday at 2:30, it was happy hour! Yay 6$ drinks, and 15% off apps. Painkiller and a sangria, both were excellent. For mains we got the salmon club wrap & Guava braised short rib poutine. Wow, both were so good! The fries (upcharge with the wrap) are so crispy yet soft on the inside, the salmon was fresh and the char on the wrap was perfect. The poutine was so good! Yum. Highly recommend!

Found this place recently through a friend. Love the poutine fries, they are fabulous. A great place to get together with a few friends. The bread pudding with a twist was a nice change. The Nashville Hot sandwich had a good amount of heat and the drinks were good. Staff is great and friendly. Will definitely be back soon.

I loved the atmosphere and service. But the burgers were pretty disappointing. Seems like the rest of the food was fine. But an almost burnt to the crisp beef burger with no ketchup or sauce of any kind was surprising and not exactly worth the price. I can get much cheaper burgers in the area that massively exceed this.

Our family went here cause it was always amazing downtown portsmouth. We were excited to see the menu and try the food. We started with the lettuce wrap and it was not what we remembered. The kid got a lobster roll and was extremely disappointed at the amount of lobster to roll ratio. My wife’s shrimp was over cooked and gave her a I shouldn’t eat this taste in her mouth “dirty” she stated. My meal the short ribs were ok but nothing I would rave about. After being done with our meals at this point our waitress was no where in sight. Waited some time then the better half went and got the bill from the host. Extremely disappointed and miss what the blue mermaid used to be.

Blue Mermaid is a local favorite! All of their food is delicious- the hardest choice is deciding what to order. Their drink menu is also fantastic. In addition to beer and wine, their mocktails are great! The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.

Love the atmosphere, the employees and the drinks. The food was a disappointment. Both my dishes were deep fried and overdone. My wife’s Salmon had to be re-fired as it was raw. I’m hoping the chef was just having a rough nite. We will try it again as we love to support our restaurants.
