I got the salmon with macaroni and sweet potatoes and my friend got the catfish with macaroni and greens. My food was kicking, smacking, punching and hitting, my friend also loved his meal as well. I recommend this place the environment was relaxing, decoration was beautiful and the cashier and cooks did their thang.

I was recommended by a friend so I decided to try them for lunch. I ordered online which was an easy process & it was ready on time (approx. 45 minute wait time). The place itself is real cute (pictures below), it was clean & quiet. The young lady at the counter was very engaging & friendly. Now the food itself… I ordered the 4 fried chicken wings, mac n cheese, greens, potato salad & sweet potatoes (all soul food staples). The pros: Portions are large. Fried chicken was crispy. Presentation was good. Cornbread was adequate. Greens were good. The cons: The potato salad tasted store bought. The mac n cheese looked & tasted like it had never even touched an oven. The sweet potatoes were tasteless. Overall meh. Yes, I would give them another chance.

I had been there when they first had their grand opening. The food was amazing. After reading the reviews today I wasn’t sure about returning but I was craving mac and cheese. I went and ordered extra crispy fried chicken. Well it definitely wasn’t crispy not only that but it was soaked. Not sure if it was grease or if it came from the sweet potatoes. Regardless it wasn’t crispy. Not only was my chicken not crispy but my mac and cheese wasn’t hot at all. More like room temperature. The cheese was thick and not at all like I remembered it. Needless to say I won’t be returning. The prices are a little high but I don’t mind paying for good food. This wasn’t it. So the reviews are on point. The chicken isn’t crispy even after I requested extra crispy and the Mac and cheese definitely isn’t worth it at all. So disappointing that the quality of the food has not been the same since they first opened.

I’ve eaten here four times and each time was a different experience. I too went during grand opening week and the food was phenomenal. We had turkey wings, fried chicken, fried fish, cabbage, Mac and cheese most of the sides.. delicious. 2nd time coming food wasn’t bad but I didn’t like the cabbage tasted like the inside of a pot to me, my hubby was not fond of the chicken or turkey wings. 3rd time I was just disappointed because the food was really not good compared to the first time. The Mac and cheese was dry, potato salad did not taste the same weird aftertaste, greens had funny taste just not a good day I guess. I will say the Lamb Chops with that sauce is phenomenal. Everytime i have gotten the Lamb chops it was cooked very well and delicious. The shrimp fried rice and salmon cheese steak are really good as well. Overall they are ok I would go again just get specific things.

I knew it would be a hit or miss based on the reviews. I got the fried chicken wings Mac, yams and a piece of cornbread. The Mac yams and corn bread were delicious! But the fried chicken was soggy, chewy and not very fried. Very disappointed in that considering the fact that that was the meat for my meal.

I have never ate and nothing that’s supposed to be soul food this nasty before in my life. Collard greens was tough turkey wings was either rotten or had too much minced garlic never again you would think for the prices that they charge that it would taste a little better than what it do. Highly disappointed on this Sunday…..
