Such a wonderful place with welcoming staff and unrivaled views and atmosphere. Cabin was very clean and comfortable. A Lil pricey for the cabin but the price of the food was very reasonable with some of the nicest staff I’ve ever seen. Will be returning soon.

Much improved over last year’s visit. Buffet still a little lacking on selection, and some of the food not up to temp on steam table, but corrected quickly when brought to staff attention. Seems very popular, as there was a wait to be seated after we arrived. Very friendly !

Beautiful location, friendly staff. Low quality food. Next time I stay there, I’ll bring food. I’ve eaten there before. The food is totally unimpressive. My chicken strips were formed from chicken pieces, not chicken strips. Kind of like Mickey D”s chicken nuggets which I don’t eat. Breakfast was a collection of the cheapest stuff they could find. The “orange juice” was especially offensive. Thick, unnaturally bright orange and nasty comes to mind. One sip of that was enough! Powdered gravy mix and questionable sausage links made me wonder why they even bother to open. All Kentucky lodges which I have eaten at have had garbage for food. I suggest if you’re staying at the lodge for a few days…..BRING FOOD!

I try to always offer positive reviews. So here’s the positive. The staff is kind. Save yourself the grief of trying to eat an overpriced, poor quality, unappetizing meal. I read reviews that said it was delicious. I’m a Southern gal and I know southern cooking. This ain’t it, y’all! The food quality is low grade. It’s not the preparer’s fault. A tough cut of meat is difficult to make tender. Cheap Frozen cobblers bought in bulk do not have enhanced flavor with proper baking, etc. The only way for this restaurant to improve is to buy higher quality food. I had the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet. I watched them set out the lunch buffet at 10:00am for the 11:00 to 1:30 lunch. I think the same salad buffet was set out for dinner. (Or was it even put away between the two mealtimes?) At 5:00pm the iceberg lettuce was quite brown and wilted. The meatballs had an odd tasting orange color sauce. I was unable to cut the extremely tough pork chops. The cornbread muffins were dry and salty. There was something that resembled cornbread dressing. I assure you, it tasted nothing like a good cornbread dressing should taste. For those of you who are judging southern cooking by what you ate here, please go to a true southern restaurant to taste the difference! Also, do yourself a favor and have stuff to make sandwiches in your room for yourself. You’ll be glad you did!
