I loved the food; so rich in flavors. I got a Persian burger. Also, people are nice there is a good friendly vibe in this place, But there is a problem… no gloves making the food…

An honest review. I wanted to love this place but the food is just ok, they don’t use gloves to cook the food. Very unsanitary. Plus the kitchen doesnt look like its been cleaned. I will not be going back.

This was back in 2010, and I never forget this moment. My friends and I had come in at what seemed to be closing time. We were all starving and had just taken the overnight bus back from San Francisco. The plan was to stay up and watch movies, but we didn’t have much choices on food. As we were walking up Dwight to go to our house on Benvenue, we saw that bongo Burger was open or seem to be open when we walked in the owner looked at us as if we had traveled many many miles. He was warm and welcoming, and even cracked a few jokes Not only was the food amazing for my first time ever having it, but he gave us extra fries, and we made sure that we gave him a very good tip. From that point on every football season, we made sure to get the bongo burger, breakfast special And go back and watch the games at the apartment. All I can say is that bongo Burger is a staple in college eating, and in Northern California burgers.

The woman behind the counter was lovely and the music was great (Spanish jams). They accept Apple pay which was convenient because I forgot my wallet at home. The food was ok. The burger was unnecessary messy, it had very little taste, and the bun was way too big and also lacked substance. The fries were bready and flavorless. I’m going to come back and try this place again in the future and update my review if warranted because maybe my taste buds are just taking a rest today. I don’t know. Apart from the food, the space is decent. It’s a tad overpriced but nothing out of standard Berkeley inflated prices.

How can something that looks like a Subway sandwich taste so good? I got the Persian (lamb) burger and was surprised that it didn’t look like a typical burger. When I look a bite though, it didn’t really matter what it looked like. I got it without the condiments and it was still full of flavor! The lamb is really tender and cooked well. My only thing was that it was a tad salty. Good thing you can only get it in a combo meal so it came with a soda which I think goes really well with burgers. I’m usually not a crinkle fries person, but the fries were really good.

From 1983 to 1993 I lived down the block from Bongo Burger, on the first block of Regent St. When I, and later my wife and I, needed a quick, delicious and deeply satisfying meal, this was our go-to place. At least twice a week for three months after our baby arrived. We loved it! Meat on the sandwiches was always moist, well salted and very tasty. Falafel was the bomb. Fries were always hot and crisp. Back then they had something called a “luleh kebab,” which was heaven. I’m so glad they’re still going strong. I’ll be in the area next Spring and can’t wait to stop in!

Been going here over 15 years. Since the close of oscars, it’s been my favorite burger spot! They have really good Kringle cut fries, and the burger is really good- nice stacking, large size, excellent buns, great chefs. The baklava is good too! The people running the counter are always super friendly and they make the best ranch dressing ever.
