A ground-breaking social enterprise founded in 2019 by award-winning professional chef, Kansas City native and community activist Shanita McAfee-Bryant, The Prospect KC is an answer to high unemployment and lack of access to healthy foods in Kansas City’s Eastside neighborhoods.
Modeled as a high-impact solution to homelessness, hunger, and poverty, The Prospect KC provides comprehensive support services to disenfranchised individuals and communities with nutritional education, culinary training, and culinary entrepreneurship through a robust network of social service partnerships assisting with food, housing, childcare, transportation, and job training.

Just had lunch at The Spot and it was One of the best lunches I have had since moving to KC! I ordered the Something Green salad with a side of potato wedges and a pesto croissant pastry from the bakery. I also had a Mango Mama iced drink. The salad was so fresh, the perfect mix of greens, crunch and fresh strawberries. The potatoes were super soft on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. The pastry was baked to perfection, flaky and full of flavor. The drink was full of flavor but not too sweet. It was all so perfect. I got all of this for under $20! The staff was very friendly and they were all hardworking. Can’t wait to try more of their food and very excited about them launching their full menu next month.

This is one of the best “bang for the buck” food values in the city. The food is excellent and the service is exceptional. It’s wonderful to have The Spot in this community! Seamless connection to the new Vine Street Brewery next door and the cherry on top is live entertainment on weekends!
