Every time I’m in LA, I make it a point to come here despite the long drive. It says a lot when I tell people here in San Francisco that the best noodle house in our state is 6.5hrs away. My mom argued with me until she tried some of the frozen dumplings I brought up and steamed for her, and she’s from Asia: she’s super critical of other people’s hand made dumplings. She hasn’t argued about it since and will ask if I have any (we go to LA sporadically) to eat when she visits. We decided to try this tpla e after Worth It on youtube featured it and my brother immediately made it a goal to eat here from how delicious it looked, and we haven’t looked back since. The cat ear noodles in stir fry sauce, the black spaghetti (jajiangmien), and the wife special noodles are all delicious, with particular emphasis on the cat ear noodles. My brother always asks for me to pick up a large frozen bag of the pork and cilantro dumplings, as those are the cheapest-best flavored hand-made dumpling to price ratio anywhere. Do yourself a huge favor, grab two or more friends, and take a trip out to try the wife special noodles to get a good sample of each sauce (XO sauce, tomato, and jajiangmien sauce) and to try it all mixed, pork and cilantro dumplings, and cat ear noodles. Why two friends? The portions are generous and the noodles are filling. The dumplings are supple and do not need sauce, though the wrapping of the dumplings can use it if you want. The prices are fair (8-13/dish) and the portions leave you full for a long while. The husband/wife duo that runs this place recently opened another location due to their success, and it’s unsurprising, given how kind, attentive and modest they are. I need to figure out if they are willing to ship their dumplings…
