Love this place. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Disappointed that I haven’t been able to experience the MHOGO chicken yet (Wednesday’s only). My favorites sides are the yellow beans and corn salad. Then end a great meal with the delectable hibiscus tea! You can thank me later!

The food was very flavorful. Ambiance was great! Food came out really fast. Plantains were a little dried out but everything else was phenomenal. I’ll just ask for fresher plantains next time.

WOW! Four of us arrived at a crowded restaurant and got THE BEST service and a lovely dining experience, all in time for our show! Not to mention that every item on the plate was absolutely delicious! The spinach was sumptuous. The plantains were sweet but not greasy. The chicken and beef were well-seasoned and oh-so tender. Did I mention the amazing spiced coffee? Plus, there’s easy parking. I can’t wait to try more of the menu.

THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! That is all you need to know! I’ve never had African food before but I was so pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the beef stew, plantain, spice rice, and spinach! Basically everything. Food was well prepared and presented and the service and atmosphere was very bright and casual. This is my favorite lunch place in Detroit!

Had the most amazing experience here in Detroit! The food was so flavourful and comforting, it reminded me of a home cooked meal my grandmother would make. Everything was insanely delicious and full of spice. I’d recommend booking a reservation in advance as we had to wait 45 min for a table at peak hours, but honestly it was so worth it.

Delicious tender lamb. Juicy chicken. Coconut rice was also a good medium of sweet and savior. But the spicy rice hit with the beef chunks.

There is so much love in this place. The food is incredible and you can taste the love in the food. I’m a complete stranger to this cuisine but it’s as if it came from my own mom. The tea was delicious and every sip was a treat. Staff and owner were so incredibly friendly to everyone. The coolest part was seeing 4 different ethnic groups feeling the same happiness through Baobab’s food. This place is a real gem. I can’t wait to tell everyone about it, but also to come back repeatedly.

So so good! The perfect place to stop after the DIA or Library… we loved every dish we had (especially the peanut spinach and spiced tea). Our toddler enjoyed every dish, too, and they were very cool about dining with a baby.
