While visiting Anchorage, I search for restaurants on my smartphone and my results landed me the Imperial Palace restaurant. It did not disappoint. Food was hot, and delicious. Wait staff was polite and welcoming, and it was a great way to spend a quiet lunch hour. The restaurant is hard to find. It is away from main stream roads. Not many people during my visit. Possibly due to location. I recommend it.

Imperial Palace restaurant always a good place for a quick Chinese lunch. It has recently come under New Management or possibly a bit of a remodel either or it’s a great place for lunch or dinner. I recommend all the lunch specials definitely saves you a few bucks when you’re eating out. And though it’s not a buffet you will not leave their hungry they are very accommodating. I recommended for your next lunch get-together with friends or coworkers. My cohorts and I have been going there for years.

First off, this is now Rice Garden, not the Imperial Palace. For those who loved the Rice Bowl, this is where they moved. Different owner, but same cook. The food is excellent as it was at the Rice Bowl – maybe even better. Order the pork fried rice. Simply wonderful!

I ordered an appetizer sampler (literally all of it was bad other than mediocre egg rolls) and the worst General Tso’s chicken I’ve ever had. On top of the awful food the delivery took nearly an hour… Didn’t even get chop sticks or a fortune cookie. Just to end positively, they have good steamed rice. And the delivery driver was nice (even though he parked at the wrong house lol)

I used to go here with my family many years ago, before the fire caused them to rebuild and change everything. Pre-fire, Imperial Palace was amazing and I would give more than five stars if I could. Nowadays… It is really hit or miss. Been in four times, two were good, two not so good. The location attracts trashy customers who shout on their phones and spit at the table (saw this more than one visit). There is only one server and seems to just be one cook. Server was a nice woman, but seemed stressed out and was too abrupt trying to answer phone and serve several tables, made the meal feel rushed and unpleasant even on a slow evening. Good taste good, but is more salty and greasy than I like. Some may like it that way, more “fast food” Chinese, but I don’t tend to.

I am giving the Imperial Palace two stars only because Yelp does not have a zero star rating, which means that one star ratings must be reserved for places that are really, really bad. The Imperial Palace was not really, really bad, it just was not good in any sense of the word.

Old-school Anchorage style Chinese and Korean. Always freshly prepared, fast, efficient service. Huge selection of great cheap M-F lunch specials (sweet and sour pork and spicy garlic chicken with fried or steamed rice and egg roll, hot tea – $8.95!) Ignore the neighborhood. Don’t ask for subs, it upsets the rhythm (and you won’t get it anyway.) Cozy old-school atmosphere. Takeout available.

Horrible I spent 95 dollars on 2 plates of food and tried to force down some of the food just so I wouldn’t feel like I threw the money down the drain.i read the reviews before I came and thought I would listen to everyone’s reviews but that was the wrong thing to do
