Dropped by on a long drive thru the area. They have a well-deserved star rating. It’s an unassuming place in a working-class neighborhood, but it’s very clear the owners pay attention to proper seasoning, preparation and hygiene. Jerk chicken was delicious, if it’s smoked, it’s gonna have some pink sections people! We didn’t really like the default jerk sauce they serve with it, but when I asked for a sweeter bbq-style sauce, the owner stepped into the “sauce safe” on premises and made it happen with something sweet and super spicy but not peppery. I can see why they keep it locked up!

This is a takeout review. All food is eaten promptly in the vehicle. I tried the chicken stew and the Jerk Pork. Both were very tasty with plenty of food on each medium sized meal. The mac n Cheese side was also quite good. An excellent food experience. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.3.

I stumbled across an article in The Day about Saint Bess Jerk Hub yesterday and my husband and I made dinner plans immediately! I’m always looking out for new restaurants in the area but somehow I missed Saint Bess’s. My husband got the jerk chicken and mac n cheese, I got the oxtail plate with collard greens and we both got a beef pattie…yum! Seriously, I could eat a plate of just the collard greens, they were amazing. I tried my husband’s chicken and I thought it had great texture, and he really loved the mac n cheese. The gentleman that helped us (owner I think?) asked if we wanted medium, and at the time I thought he was talking portion size. After we got home we realized he might have been talking about heat level. If they add heat, we’ll be doing that next time. They also sell their jerk sauce to take home, which is awesome. The guy that helped us was so nice and the I loved the music and decor. We’ll be back for sure!

If I had to select one place to eat at for the rest of my life. It would most definitely be St Bess’s. I have quite literally blown all my money here one time or another. I have tried the Jerked chicken, Fried chicken, Oxtail, Curry Goat and several other things. I sometimes struggle to pick between the Dark Jerk and the Curry Goat, it’s like picking a career in life, Not easy.

Food portion size is very small. Their stingy with giving you a proper adult portion size. I have tried a medium (which is a small compared to most Jamaican restaurants) There large size was more like a medium as well. The Jerk chicken had a decent flavor, but the chicken was hard. The stew chicken had little to no flavor and tasted uncooked and pink in some areas. Cabbage was hard and had little to no flavor or seasoning, just black pepper. Overall, the food here doesn’t have enough flavor and the portion sizes to small. This Jamaican restaurant is mediocre. Twice is enough for me.. I’m done.

All the bad reviews must have just been Karen’s because let me tell you this food is so delicious . All of it. The gentleman that took my order was very nice and told me it would be good and we would be going back again and he was 100000% right. Skip pizza and fast food and get something delicious from here.

I dont know how this place is getting good reviews. I went for lunch, ordered the jerk chicken. It was the driest peice of chicken I have ever had, they clearly are serving chicken that was cooked and reheated several times. I will not be coming back. Also the woman at the counter looks like she wants to punch you in the face while taking your order.
